This is a great movie! How tough were they, 300 against 300,000 and at the end of the battle, the 300 were dead, but 42,000 Persians were dead; I think they did their part! Kick-ass movie!!! Loved it!!!

It sure is historically inaccurate... but if you want a movie historically accurate, you must watch History Channel, and avoid the movie theaters!!
It's a great movie, with a great story, great acting, great soundtrack and great bodies (both, male and female)posted 120 days ago -

I see a lot of comments about the movie being historically inaccurate, but in my opinion, it really didn't stray that far. It was a movie made from the point of view of the Spartans; no one else. History has always heralded the bravery of the Spartans and all but ignored the Thespians and especially Themistocles and his Athenian navy (Yes, there was a huge navy battle going on simultaneously with the land battle). However, the strategy of the battle was all Leonidas and the Spartans, hence their being in the forefront and touted as the heroes. It was also a very gutsy move to stay behind while allowing the remaining (approx) 4,000 allies to flee after the Persians discovered the mountain pass which allowed them (the Persians) to flank the Greeks. So, I really can't blame the historians for raising the Spartans to that great position of honor in the entire battle.

Ok, I'm sick and tired of this movie being berated for being historically inaccurate. I won't argue that this movie does not distort the actual events but I will say this. This movie was based on a comic that was based on the stories the Greeks told of the event. Of course it was historically inaccurate! What would you do if you were a Greek historian and you had to tell about a major engagement between your people and a hated enemy? If it were me, I would create a story that told of the heroism of my countrymen and the cowardice of the enemy to incite nationalism. It's called propaganda and it works. It's just the world they lived in (and one we still live in). Watch this movie for what it is. An excellent (if mostly fictional) story of insane heroism and a visual landmark.

I'm sorry I have to say these:
This is a fucking bullshit movie
History distorted in this fucking movie.
I'm agree that visual effects in this movie are good, but the story that the movie says is a so big lie.
please don't believe it.
I should apologize to fans of this damn movie for my frankly behavior, I told those in a honest way.
Know this; This movie is a huge lie that wants you believe it and put you in a wrong condition.posted 189 days ago -

Great Cinematography makes this movie worth watching. Gerard Butler did a fantastic job as king Leonidas in this film. Everyone I am sure has seen this. If you haven't be sure you see this right away. 3 1/2 stars

whooo what a film.
many criticised its historial accuracy but at the end of the day it was made clear enough that it was based on the comic.
im a keen ancient history fan and never thought id say that but i just did...i dont care about the history- all i care about is whether the film was enjoyable or not
and enjoyable it was. sorted
watch it you won't be disappointed!posted 274 days ago -
