  Probably one of the most interesting and quite cool team ups I've seen in a film for some time, Costner, Russell and Slater although we lose Slater early on. Unfortunately the casting also included Arquette and Cox who both seem to star in the same films as if its a contract requirement, thing is both of them are useless, and Ice-T pops up at the end with a really dumb character but luckily he kicks the bucket quickly. So basically this is Costner being a muttonchopped badass and killing virtually anyone who stands in his way! Reviews and box office performance were poor but personally I don't get why as I believe this is a rip roaring king of action that is miles better than most gun totting action flicks. Sure its pretty silly but the Elvis impersonators convention robbery set piece at the start is worth the ticket admission alone, bullets fly and police officers get blasted from here to next Sunday whilst Costner struts around in leather pants and Russell's hairs would make Elvis himself proud. Add to this a rocking soundtrack, some decent car chases and some nice camera work and you have a pretty smart film. Plus side, Arquette dies early, we do see Cox in a thong (sneak peek shot) and Costner makes a better bad guy than good, its just a shame Slater wasn't in longer.

  Crime Is King. Pretty good film! I was very entertained and the story really kept me guessing, excellent script and writer. Kevin Costner really acted very well and nailed his role. Nice supporting cast. Lot's of action and twist and turns, you will enjoy it. Hardened criminals Thomas J. Murphy and Michael Zane lead a gang of five using an Elvis impersonators convention as cover to violently rob the Riviera Casino. The others get eliminated either during the heist or infighting (allegedly?) over the way to divide the loot and launder it. Zane returns to the desert rat hole 'last Chance' sleazy diner run by divorced Cybil Waingrow, who makes a second income of seducing and robbing men with and for her smart cheeky rascal Jesse. Once she knows about the laundering, Cybil dumps Jesse of Zane so she can try to steal it, but Murphy, who already left a bloody trail including dead cops, recruits a new team, just like the police. Fortunes and betrayal keep shifting while the victims pile up.

  This movie is among the most overlooked films of all time. Great cast and a genuinely fun film to watch. It reminds me of Raising Arizona in that there are a lot of active characters with no easily predicted ending.

  Seen this film years back when it first came out on the big screen, and I've seen it many times since, but to give it the review it deserves I had to see it again, and its the type film you don't mind seeing over and over. Kurt Russell and Kevin Costner are like Jell-O with Whip Cream together. I wish they had done more films together. The film is based on a robbery of a casino when they are holding and Elvis Convention. The sound track is awesome, the action and overall chase scenes are outstanding. That added with Courtney Cox as the single Mom and her little brat son put this film in the 4 Star category.

  The idea of a heist working out but the players turning against each other in the aftermath isn't entirely new. This film at least offers the best cast since Ocean's Eleven. One has to wonder why, because most characters are wasted in tiny roles, especially the police investigators are rather pointless. Kevin Costner plays his bad ass role with obvious pleasure, which raises the film from sub-par to average. The problem is that the movie is too long, the dialogs are not particularly well-written (with a few funny exceptions) and the majority of the characters' motivations seem random and unbelievable. That doesn't make for a boring movie, especially fans of the actors should be able to make it through the film, but it still is an example of wasted opportunities. Even supposedly cool camera tricks and the shredding metal guitars during the shootouts can't change that.

Never would have guessed he could call up so much of a cold and cruel edge. <p> <b> 10/10/06 update: </b> As some of you may know, I'm not a member of Costner's fanclub. Still, I have to reiterate that he performs extremely well in this. And I must say that Courtney Cox, another not-so-favorite actress, really is quite engaging as Russell's, uh, Bonnie -- for lack of a better word. <p> Hey, Howie Long, please stick to football commentary. There are many competent, actually starving actors looking for roles. Mahalo for your kind consideration of this request. Go Raiders!

  The neo-noir crime thriller 3000 Miles to Graceland is a fun film that's packed with high adrenaline action. The story follows a group of criminals that rob the Riviera Casino during an Elvis impersonator convention, but the escape plan quickly falls apart as the group starts to turn on each other. The cast is quite impressive, and includes Kurt Russell, Kevin Costner, Courteney Cox, Christian Slater, and David Arquette. However, the story is a bit uneven and doesn't follow very well. But the action sequences are exceptionally well done, and bring a lot of intensity and energy to the film. There are a number of problems with 3000 Miles to Graceland, but it still manages to be an entertaining thriller.

  3000 Miles to Graceland' isn't quite as dopey as the cover art featuring Kurt Russell and Kevin Kostner clad in Elvis regalia would suggest. Although it breaks little new ground in its already overworked genre, the film does emerge as an efficient crime drama thanks to a gallery of interesting characters, some impressive performances and Demian Lichtenstein's flashy directorial style. After a shaky first half hour or so, in which the film seems to be struggling to establish its direction and tone, the movie miraculously hits its stride and, thereafter, never really lets up. The story centers around a band of ex-cons, united by their almost obsessive love for the King of rock'n'roll, who decide to knock over a Las Vegas casino dressed as Elvis impersonators. Predictably, the heist serves merely as the pretext for one of them, the obviously psychotic Murphy (Kostner), to cold-bloodedly eliminate his accomplices. The fly in his ointment turns out to be Michael Zane (Russell), the most principled one of the group, who survives the holocaust and spends his time, along with a pretty single mother and her precocious child, trying to keep out of Murphy's way. The film is not, however, a total success. For one thing, the violence often seems excessively brutal, graphic and mean spirited for a movie that seems to want to be a lark of sorts (after all, a movie featuring robbers dressed as Elvis impersonators can't be bidding to be taken too seriously). Moreover, the plotting, which far too often relies on unlikely coincidences to keep it rolling, also borders frequently on the incoherent. Finally, the morally ambiguous ending doesn't really sit well with those of us who find a couple of thieves, no matter how charming they may appear to be, unlikely candidates for heroism in the context of a `happy' ending

  The fun begins right away, with a cool animated visual of a scorpion duel. Kevin Costner's performance was perfect and he seemed to be having tons of fun as the vicious villain (or it could be his sexy leather pants that caught my attention). I'm a big fan of Kurt Russel, to me, he is great in anything, so no complaints here. The cast also includes David Arquette, Courtney Cox, Christian Slater, Kevin Pollack, Thomas Haden Church, Ice-T and Jon Lovitz so there should be at least a few other faces to please you. Courteney Cox (Friends) is good enough though I couldn't really figure out who she was throughout the film other than a fun romp. Action is relentless, extremely violent and brutal with lots of blood and guts and Kurt Russell's Elvis rendition as the closing credits roll is a lot of fun to watch.

  Fun and highly frenetic heist/betrayal movie with a director trying to be somewhere between John Woo and Tony Scott but failing to ape either. Costner has fun "chewing up all the scenerey" as they say, relishing his role as an evil Elvis, and Christian Slater is bizarrely nothing more than cannon-fodder early on. Nevertheless, it's still distractingly entertaining.
