After squaring off in 1995 with competing movie biographies of frontier lawman Wyatt Earp, actors Kurt Russell and Kevin Costner co-star in this action crime caper as former cronies engaged in a series of double-crosses over some stolen loot. Critic Reviews

  • Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com

Lichtenstein grooves on bullets and blood and bedlam, but there's no grace, no drama, no sense of honor to the violence.

  • Joe Baltake, Sacramento Bee

This latest example of violent amorality in contemporary movies is just too cluttered, disorganized and messy.

  • John Anderson, Newsday

Too much of the film is pure filler, visuals manipulated for onanistic purposes.

  • Elvis Mitchell, New York Times

The picture feels longer than Presley's career and as irrelevant as he was by the end.

  • Nell Minow, Common Sense Media

Extremely violent Elvis-based robbery for 17+ only.

Probably one of the most interesting and quite cool team ups I've seen in a film for some time, Costner, Russell and Slater although we lose Slater early on. Unfortunately the casting also included Arquette and Cox who both seem to star in the same films as if its a contract… More

This movie is among the most overlooked films of all time. Great cast and a genuinely fun film to watch. It reminds me of Raising Arizona in that there are a lot of active characters with no easily predicted ending.

Seen this film years back when it first came out on the big screen, and I've seen it many times since, but to give it the review it deserves I had to see it again, and its the type film you don't mind seeing over and over. Kurt Russell and Kevin Costner are like Jell-O with… More

The idea of a heist working out but the players turning against each other in the aftermath isn't entirely new. This film at least offers the best cast since Ocean's Eleven. One has to wonder why, because most characters are wasted in tiny roles, especially the police… More
