A highly charged, emotional story of a disenfranchised teen living on the wrong side of the tracks. Desperate for a way out, his life collides with an old reclusive track coach, angry at the world with no purpose in life, with who he eventually forms a bond. The two are forced to face their circumstances as they race to save each other and ultimately - themselves. (C) Gravitas Ventures

Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"A by-the-numbers tale of inspiration through perspiration."
‑ Bill Edelstein, Variety
"More than one interior scene looks underlit for effect, but that's at least something else to think about as the film goes through its paces."
‑ Nicolas Rapold, New York Times
"This earnest redemption drama fails to go the distance with sentimental tendencies and trite lessons of perseverance."
‑ Todd Jorgenson, Cinemalogue.com
"Has the capacity to explore some compelling areas of doubt, but the screenplay by Josh Campbell and Jeff Van Wie goes overboard in an attempt to secure tears."
‑ Brian Orndorf, Blu-ray.com
"4 Minute Mile at least has the decency to acknowledge that it's aware of its underdog sports-movie clichés, especially the ones that made The Karate Kid such an '80s classic."
‑ Christy Lemire, RogerEbert.com
"It's a moving, if occasionally heavy-handed, sports drama that deserves a wider audience than it is probably going to find in its limited release."
‑ Cary Darling, Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com
"Even with Richard Jenkins's strong turn as a grizzled mentor and ex-athlete, 4 Minute Mile is a limp sports drama that fails to be inspirational or inspired."
‑ Jordan Adler, We Got This Covered
"4 Minute Mile is watchable thanks to Richard Jenkins, but its overall blandness and familiarity will cause it to evaporate from your memory in a flash."
‑ Mike McGranaghan, Aisle Seat
"Even if the story itself has been around the track a couple of times, veterans like these know how to bring it safely home."
‑ Stephen Whitty, Newark Star-Ledger
"A finely written and directed sports drama with a lead performance by rising star Kelly Blatz so deep and affecting it often evokes Timothy Hutton's Oscar-winning turn in "Ordinary People.""
‑ Gary Goldstein, Los Angeles Times
"There's a similar redolence to 4 Minute Mile overall-the odor of a hard-working but underachieving movie that's 99 percent perspiration and 1 percent inspiration."
‑ Adam Nayman, The Dissolve
