A pretty overall cheesy flick about the 70s NYC night club Studio 54. This really didn't give a well-rounded flavor of what it was like (the era or the night-club), but just gives us a fuzzy sort of snap-shot of what it was like through the fictional character played by Ryan Phillippe who is a young man from Jersey gaining some local semi-fame as a bartender there. Mike Myers who played Steve Rubell was the very best part of this movie and what earns the stars here.

Well, Mike Myers stole the movie. And there was a nice gratuitous butt shot of Ryan Phillippe.:) Apart from that, this movie sucked.

The movie that wanted to be Saturday Night Fever. The movie does capture the decadence that was Studio 54, a place where anything went. It was THE hotspot of the 70's club scene, where everyday nobodys rubbed elbows with the Hollywood elite. Sex, drugs, all night disco music, and who knows what all were the norm, and you were nobody if you couldn't get in. Director Mark Christopher captures all of the this frenzy admirably, and the scenes in the club really do work. It's in places outside the club that the movie falls apart. We get cookie cutter family drama with Ryan Phillipe, marital discord with Brekin Meyer and Salma Hayek, and typical soul searching with people who don't know what to do when they've allowed themselves to be taken over by life's excesses. Mike Myers plays infamous Studio 54 Steve Rubell admirably. He's a squirly, sexually efeminate, want to be the center of attention worm, who would never get into the club if he didn't own it. The performances all around are fine, but there's so substance to any of the characters, or their stories. Kind of like the infamous club itself...all style, no substance.

Not bad, not bad at all. It's hard not to enjoy a film that's constantly beaming cool seventies music into your brain. Disjointed in places, but not badly enough to ruin the film.

This movie has one of my favorite soundtracks. If you want some feel good music then this is it one after anoher hot song thrown from the age of disco.

54, is a good film centering around a group of young hopefuls that (Ryan Phillippe, Selma Hayek) aspire to be rich and famous and be part of the elite in the famous 54 night club in NYC.

A very different role for Mike Myers. Worth checking out, different from most of the 70's/drugs/disco movies. The music selections are excellent and fit the scenes perfectly.

If you love 70s disco music, you will love this film. I didn;t mind it but it was nice to see Mike Myers being serious.

It was entertaining. I think it could have been darker and grittier. But then it was the disco era.

I don't remember why I saw it - I guess someone wanted me to, because this is not my first choice when it comes to film. And I didn't like it. Campbell is hopeless.

I didn't really know much about 54 before watching this movie. The movie really didn't explain the whole storyline behind the famous club 54 but in the end it was pretty good. It had an amazing cast all of them were great. I love the music in this movie and I myself love to dance..hmm.. too bad this club still didn't exist I would try to get in lol....

Une chronique sociale vertigineuse, qui ne met pas de gants blancs, mais juste un peu trop de dentelle sentimentale.

It is quite difficult for me to imagine such big parties with such amout of drugs in it. The 70's were made to support the wildest and all of those who had the chance to live those years in their own skin partied real hard.
The most exciting thing to point out about the film is knowing that it's based on a true story.... it rocks!

studio 54. what a movie and what a soundtrack. if you like dance music, especially disco music, the double cd is definttly one for the collection. the movie itself it very well made. mike myers played the owner of the famous studio 54 in new york city in the a970's. neve campbell, ryan phillips , salma hayek also stars in it. it is a great adult movie, but there are a few scenes where children should not be in the room, so please use your parental views on this one. I LOVE THIS MOVIE, HAVE IT AND THE SOUNDTRACK.

you have to take the good with the bad with this one. it's got a great look, great music, and salma hayek. on the other hand it's got phillippe's acting, breckin meyer, and fashions and hair straight out of the 70's. it still is a very entertaining movie but i wouldn't buy it. it's more like a rental

I don't care who you are or how many drugs you are on, if Ryan Phillippe on a bed of cash is on the table, you do not pass out!

Not bad. The cast was amazing, Mike Myers did a fantastic job as Steve, Breckin Meyer is always adorable and Ryan Phillippe topless for half the film is never a bad thing. The factual part of the film annoyed me though, having just seen a documentary on Studio 54 I was kind of annoyed that the script writers just seem to have forgotten that Steve was joint owner of 54 and wasn't the only man to go to prison his buisness partner went with him!

I am more than a little biased on this one, as I just love Ryan Phillippe in it!!! But the disco sounds and lifestyle really bring the film to life - very enjoyable!

Disapponting. Read about rampant studio interference that eventually killed the spirit of the movie.

Mike Myers is brilliant as legandary night club Studio 54 co-founder Steve Rubell and the movie mixes sex and drugs with classic disco music in a club where the elite , the rich and famous and movie stars where able to get beneath the ruby rope and party the night away, if you weren't on the list you never got in...

Its like any other movie. But wit great music. And somewhat good looking guys.

But other the the music, the guys... it's just a movie. Sure I like the movie. I'll watch it anytime and with some happiness. But it's nowhere great. But I don't really think that was the intention when they filmed it..

But it's good. And you love the 80's music. I still do ^^

There was so much more territory to mine here... I understand this was besieged by production problems and post-production tinkering, and it shows. Mike Myers is terrific.
