Somewhat predictable, but still a good watch. The ultimate set-up. Still can't believe no one gets the money.... watch it and see what I mean.
Another okay movie that keeps you wondering until just past the 1/2 way point where it gives too much away too quickly.
This started fast and then died off.
it was your typical twisting movie.
It just wasn't as great as i thought it would be.
Different actors but have seen the plot before and a lot better performed and achieved. Performance wise did not like. Very dissapointed
Not your normal heist movie, with some of social cometary, and very good acting, one of the best performances by Michelle Williams, who looks great and performs amazingly. Jackman and McGregor turn there normal above the grade performances. some sweet photography in beginning, and across the board good to great chemistry. The weakness is the very ending, but still very recommended.
very well made, very clever and full of surprises!... a great ending, very unpredictable and original!!!!... Good acting, altough I dont think this role suits ewan Mcgregor, but it was Ok, Hugh Jackman on the other hand was AMAZING!
It was a good thriller, well thought out except the damn ending....how the hell you gone give up 20 mil?? I mean really???
Draggy and boring. Not exciting enough to be worth someones time and concentration. plot twists are unbelievable and ludicrous. Doesn't feel like a lot of effort was put into the production and it was rushed into production quickly to make a profit. The cast has been involved with better films in the past. Underwhelming to say the least. Fails to impress on every level. A suspense film without suspense.
I don't know what to say about this movie except that I guess Hugh Jackman makes any script he gets sent because he has a family to feed. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE Jackman, I've met him, even worked with him, and I respect him, but this movie didn't need to be made. Michelle Williams looks a startling amount like Rebecca De Morney, and when Ewan McGregor finally gets to take his glasses off his eyes are quite blue. There is one scene where Michelle and Ewan have come in from the rain and are considering submitting to temptation where they smolder quite nicely, and you sort of get the idea that Jackman could probably play a villian well if only given the chance, but mainly you hear him more than see him being evil. I admit I rented it thinking I was going to get to see Jackman in the buff getting it on. Alas no. As usual there were plenty of beautiful well-dressed or undressed women and I do applaud them for including women of all ages, colors, and sizes, but Ewan just doesn't do it for me.
interesting concept about the sex club ... my question is what if that girl wasn't in that group mmm... ??? probably no storyline
Somewhat predictable, but made suitable by the high quality cast. Definitely not among Jackman or McGregor's greatest films, but watchable nonetheless.
Interesting premise, although relying too much on coincidence. The ending is also quite predictable.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one too - but I thought they flubbed the ending - they could've done a lot better. Seemed as though they were getting lazy and just wanted to wrap it up.
It was very good but a little predictable and that's what messed it up. "Are you free tonight?" A simple enough question, but how Jonathan McQuarry answers it will change his life forever. A corporate auditor adrift in a sea of New York's power elite, Jonathan's work is his entire life. But, a chance meeting with Wyatt Bose, a charismatic corporate lawyer, introduces Jonathan to a decadent playground for Manhattan's executive upper crust. For these power brokers, whose 18-hour workdays leave no time for a personal life, there's "The List"--a sex club, of sorts, where the right cell-phone number and four simple words ("Are you free tonight?") can lead to an evening's sexual fulfillment. It's a world of "intimacy without intricacy," as Jonathan's first conquest (or vice versa) explains to him, and through The List Jonathan discovers a side of himself that he didn't know existed. But an affair with a ravishing and mysterious stranger known to Jonathan only by her first initial 'S', will expose him to yet another world he never imagined--one of betrayal, treachery and murder.
I gave this a 3-1/2 stars purely because I like the actors and I like these types of movies. However, I found it quirky and interesting, but totally unbelieveable at the end. But it's worth a watch once.
I hate films that cheat.
What does that mean, you may ask?
Well, it's when a script alters the way a person thinks and acts in a film to make their script work. It's being lazy. And that's what Deception is: a lazy piece of work that capitalizes on the facts that two stars known the world over as Wolverine and Obi Wan Kenobi (not Alec Guinness, although I'm sure he would rather be dead than in this film) headline the picture.
Ewan MacGregor is a corporate accountant and Hugh Jackman is an executive that comes out of nowhere to wine, dine, and invite MacGregor's character to a sex club. The accountant falls in love, Jackman is a scam, lover for account access, etc, etc, etc. If you saw the tariler you knew what was coming.
And if you watch the film you'll see what's coming. Deception is extremly predictable, but my main problem was with the cheating issue. Characters are completly stupid and oblivious in one scene, then make a brilliant deduction in the next. This is a cheap way to keep a hack script going so that the writer doesn't have to come up with something witty or original.
This is one of those movies that just seems worse the more I think about it. Crap. Pure crap.
Una trama simple pero efectiva, del tipo en la que cerca del final te vas preguntando "terminará asi?" una y otra vez. Quizás es un poco predecible pero no por ello mala. La actuaciones están muy bien y Michelle Williams sale muy linda.
arg. the visuals were pretty good and the acting was pretty good. it's like one of those movies where you ask "is it done already?"
the plot was pretty damn thin. It's like a simple roller coaster that just runs it's course.
If the plot had been more complicated, heck if the love story would simply have developed more that would have been enough for 5 stars.....
but alas, simple plot whcich makes what could be something to be desired. The love story was going well, too bad that was so short lived. It could have been meaningless and drool, but it would have been better than the drivel that actually took place.
It´s not the kind of movie I was hoping to watch, I was expecting a more thrilling and complex story, instead of that we have romance. Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor and Michelle Williams did a a decent job.
Btw Are you free tonight?
Watched it for Ewan and Hugh Jackman. Interesting concept of high class people looking for love/fun.
So awful, I couldn't even finish it and I love Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor. I wanted and expected so much more.
