  What I enjoy most in the horror genre is that some films come along and bring something new to the table. This is a film that tries to be different and the result is a pretty good little film that has an interesting and very entertaining plot. This movie proves that you can do so much with a limited budget, and the result is an enjoyable ride from start to finish. The film has its flaws, but nonetheless it's held together by a good cast and effective directing. Altitude is an underrated flick that doesn't deserve the flack it has received. The film manages to better than most low-budget horror films, and considering that the film has gotten plenty of bad review; this is a surprising film that should appeal to fans. The director does a very good job here and he crafts something unique on-screen. This is a film that some may view as bad, but really they should give it a chance. With an effective pace, this is a picture is never dull or uninteresting. You'll be hooked from start to finish. A better than average flick, Altitude delivers something fresh in the genre and as a low-budget chiller, it succeeds where many big budget horror yarns fail. This is not a perfect film, but it does its job to entertain any horror fan looking for a fine low-budget affair that is far better than what most people claim about it. Impressive in its effects, story acting and directing I really thought this was a good film, and horror fans should check it out if they come across it.

  The monster although brings up notions of fear and builds onto a "stange tales" genre, imho is expendable and the film could have benefited in overall story with a re-write of the script exluding the fantasy and adding more reality. Overall they pushed the movie out of the norm, and for critics, industry and the cast this could be good, but for average punters, this film will probably lack sales and get a small cult audience. Modern B movie. Quite fun, a little bit progressive too.

  That poster sure is a grabber. LOOK AT IT! Huge ass tentacles coming after a plane. Not a ship, but a plane. These tentacles are in the sky. Awesome! Obviously sky tentacles vs. plane wouldn't last an entire film. So the film is more of a bizarre Twilight Zone inspired mix of supernatural forces, weirdness, and people acting like shits in a difficult situation. The film is redunkulous. That's a fact. But when it focuses on the human drama and tension, it certainly takes off. I must admit to being a bit disappointed by how sudden and spaced out the sightings of tentacles were. But some films (The King's Speech) have NO tentacles.

  <i>"Don't Look Down."</i> After a mysterious malfunction sends their small plane climbing out of control, a rookie pilot and her four teenage friends find themselves trapped in a deadly showdown with a supernatural force. <center><font size=+2 face="Century Schoolbook"><b><u>REVIEW</u></b></font></center> A group of friends take a small airplane to a concert, but soon enough they encounter a supernatural storm that causes them to constantly rise up to a dangerous height. Director Kaare Andrews did a superb job of creating a claustrophobic atmosphere, casting bright and beautiful young cast members, and blending horror with fantasy, with a bit of comic book background. Andrews is, first and foremost, a comic book creator, but he transitions to film flawlessly. I was quite impressed with this one, and although I don't like straying from reality much, I think it was handled in a creative and original way

  "You're not afraid to fly, are you?" This was like a mediocre, modern episode of the Twilight Zone. One updated with some of the most annoying and unlikeable characters I've ever seen in a movie. Yet, with all the (hilarious) overacting, all the times I wanted these stupid people to just die, already, and the fact that the movie kept getting more and more ridiculous until it reached an almost mythical plateau of absurdity, I didn't hate it. Altitude begins with a group of young adults loading up into a small plane for a trip to a Coldplay concert. We get introduced to the pilot, who's a young woman with a tragedy in her past, as well as her 4 companions. The first act plays out a bit like a slasher movie, as we meet the various characters and the predictably complicated relationships between the three guys and two girls. Things quickly start going wrong with the plane once it gets into the air. You could probably come up with a pretty fun drinking game based around guessing what incredibly important part of the plane would fail next. As the condition of the plane deteriorates, so does the atmosphere inside the cabin. Jealousy, conflict (along with a storm that clearly could have been avoided), that sort of thing. And then a supernatural element is introduced, which almost makes the latter half of the movie seem like something completely different from what came before. Just as silly, but less of a (hilarious) thriller/slasher and more of a (still hilarious) sci-fi/horror flick. In the final thirty minutes, or so, the absurdity spikes to incredible levels. I was somewhat transfixed by just waiting to see how ridiculous the plot would get before it ended. And the end did indeed exceed my expectations, by being perhaps the most incredulous conclusion I've seen since The Life of David Gale. I wouldn't describe Altitude as good, but it is entertaining. Please don't watch this if you want a solid thriller/horror movie, because your time will be completely wasted. Don't take it seriously and embrace the unintentional humor of it, and you'll have a new favorite movie to bring to your Mystery Science Theater/RiffTrax party with your friends. Enjoy!

  Nice cast and good acting makes this watchable little horror/thriller. I really quite like it, the movie flowed well and action was good.OK the conclusion will divide movie goers but you never going to make everyone happy, i was happy with the out come and made the whole movie complete. I know there will being a few that will disagree but then that life, In the end you get a solid movie with some great sfx and acting and never outstays it welcome. Its worth the rent.

I agree with other negative reviews in that this story feels like a Twilight Zone episode dragged out into a 90 minute feature. The whole ending to the film is hilarious. I didn't mind the young actors, but the plot was just terrible.

  Having just finished watching this movie, I'm not quite sure what to make of it. Maybe that's the problem, in that I'm not sure if the filmmakers knew what kind of movie they wanted to make. The basic premise reminds me a lot of the movie "Frozen. Take a group of people, trap them in an all too believable predicatment, and see what they do to survive. In this case, a group of young people trapped on a small plane that is malfunctioning, and can't find a safe way to return to the ground. Here is where we run into the first big problem with the movie...the characters. None of them is very well rounded, or particularly interesting. Their almost like rough sketches that were never fleshed out. We're never sure who these people are. Except for Jake Weary, who's character is so over the top annoying, that his presence on the screen actually started to make me ill. The second problem is that the movie takes an incredibly bizarre turn into the realm of the supernatural, as the plane is inexplicably attacked in mid air by a creature resembling a giant octopus. Why the movie veered down this path is beyond me. It could've benefitted from staying with the original premise of simply trying to land the plane, because those dilemmas are far more interesting than Twilight Zone-ish spin they put on it. However there is still a good amount to like here. The movie is VERY claustrophobic, and will probably give a lot of people pause about flying private planes. There's a couple of decent (if unbelievable) action set pieces. The visual effects are surprisingly good for a video release. Jessica Lowndes and Julianna Guill are extraordinarly easy on the eyes, and make the proceedings easier to stay interested in. And while the supernatural left turn was unecessary, it does wrap things up in a somewhat satisfying way, and doesn't leave the audience feeling totally cheated. So all in all, it's an interesting little movie that is never boring, but also never reaches the levels that it strives to. If you're a fan of The Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits, you may have a higher appreciation of this than I do. But as it stands, I'll recommend it as a no so bad way to kill 90 minutes.

  "Altitude" has a simple premise and claustrophobic plot that keeps you engaging and on the edge of the seat most of time BUT what was flying high in pacing and thrills in the first hour loses its ALTITUDE in the third act with the lame resolution of the story, aside, the anticlimactic ending. It could have been a good thrilling/supernatural experience till the last 30 minutes which ruin the whole movie. Ttake off good; land bad. Not a pleasant FLIGHT!
