run of the mill thriller (lots of running around after nobody and a huge phone bill to boot) with surprisingly the best acting coming from leelee sobieski instead of al pacino

Well, there are good parts and bad parts to this film. I felt the basis of the storyline was good and this could have turned out to be a pretty good Thriller, but the film somehow felt way too corny to have Al Pacino star in it.

Pacino himself played an ok role (in comparis...( read more)on to his many outstanding roles in other films), but the acting elsewhere lead this film to look like a very average slasher film.

The biggest problem I feel, was it?s lack of suspense and the use of other known Actors, this gave the game away from the very beginning, it?s pretty obvious that if they are in it, they are going to be in the film throughout. This type of film always benefits from new unknown Actors, that way it keeps you guessing.

The (not so) grand finale opens with options of who the killer may be and so much more could have been made of the build up toward this, giving it rather an anti-climax feel.

On a more positive note, despite all the faults mentioned, it was watchable, disappointingly though it really gives nothing original to the offering.

Good Sunday afternoon entertainment but it won?t hang around for long.

Want to know what I learned from this movie? Serial killers have magical powers, and editors sometimes have great senses of humour. Watch the first scene again: the editing is comedy gold.

The only reason this film gets a star at all is because I thought that the climax was a ...( read more)really good scene. Apart from that, this film was a mess. It was like a red herring hatchery. For half the film's running time, Al Pacino is on the phone with his assistant demanding background checks and information on every character he meets throughout the film. Seriously. Jack Gramm investigates every single character he encounters ragardless of motive, including a campus security guard he bumps into and decides he doesn't like. Okay Jack, why on Earth would your student's ex-husband decide to spend months planning your downfall and murder? This film is such a fiasco.

I am a fan of Al Pacino. I love him in Scarface and Scent Of A Woman. Both brilliant, classic films. I am also a fan of the suspense/thriller.
I thought 88 minutes was a decent film. It could have been better, yes. There were some characters that could have been elaborated on, B...( read more)enjamin McKenzie as Mike, for example. There were some plot holes and some things that didn't make all the pieces quite fit, and there was some bad acting here and there. William Forsythe, for one. But, I did enjoy this film.
I like Alicia Witt, and I can even look past the horror that was Bongwater. I thought she did well, as Kim. Besides, she is cute and us red heads have to stick together. I also like seeing Amy Brenneman in a thriller. She is good in the Fear, and good in this film. LeeLee Sobieski is good at playing a twisted, complex character. So, I enjoyed her in this one. I just wish they would have elaborated on her relationship with Jon, and why things were the way they were. One of the plot holes, I found annoying.
All in all, I have to give 88 Minutes a good review. I did enjoy it.

Stylistically entertaining, but that's about it. The actual story was pretty disappointing.

Not as bad as I had heard.

88 Minutes' shittiness is unrelenting, and it escalates all the way to one of the most head-smashingly stupid (and obvious) climaxes of a whole decade of filmmaking. May be worth watching for a healthy amount of what-were-they-thinking script blunders, or for all-around crapawful...( read more) acting (with Sobieski phoning in a career-worst performance, and Pacino & his giant fab hair coming at a close second), but really, it's worthy wondering how something this heinous and riddled with such enormous plot holes got funded.

It wouldive been better if Al Pacino didnt play in it and a younger person did.

It was very clever how it was done, but the ending was pretty lame. Pacino is still golden to watch after all these years. It was weird seeing Ryan from the OC and Bill from True Blood in this, obviously Ryan hasn't done anything since the OC, but had a pretty good role. Most of ...( read more)the chicks in it were pretty hot though.
