This movie is a good supense with a story line. if you're a good sleuth like me you know who did it part way thru da movie? can you find out who did it before da end?
this thriller movies are going thinner every time the plot is not thick enough and the music for the movie is really out of place!!! should have more things!! it could have been more complicated!!
A thriller about a college professor who, while moonlighting as a forensic psychiatrist for the FBI, receives a death threat telling him that he has only 88 minutes to live. In narrowing down possible...( read more ) suspects, he frantically seeks to communicate with a problem student, an ex-girlfriend, and a serial killer on death row.
Better than I expected. As most of the films on this list, the pacing is quick. it's mildly entertaining, but nothing special. The main reason it sits on this list is because of Pacino's electrifying performance.
Wow, this movie was total crap. The plot had potential but thee overall execution and direction was horrible and ruined what could of been a good movie. Not even the great acting from Al Pacino could save this one.
Dr. Jack Gramm (Al Pacino) a Seattle forensic psychiatrist and college professor receives a phone call that tells him he has minutes left to live. Jack thinks this phone call has something to do with a serial killer Jon Forster who is just hours away from execution. The plot might not be the most original idea ever, but it sounds pretty interesting, unfortunately the movie itself is not. The characters are unrealistic, the acting falls flat and the ending just fucking sucks. This could have been a cool and clever thriller, but ended up being just silly and confusing.
Ok thriller and ok performance from Al Pacino.Nothing you have'nt seen before, very run of the mill stuff. But worth checking it out for a hr and a half on a rainy day.
Pacino does a good job, although the movie itself was almost boring, with the suspect of the killings changing every other scene. A little disappointed with the ending also.
A typical stupid action/thriller type film but with Al Pacino... There were some aspects I would like to have seen more of and some which I could have seen less of but it's not a bad way to spend a couple of hours...
Well Al Pacino really dissapointed me in this flick, this movie is trying to be a mixture of NICK OF TIME and CELLULAR (two of my favourites) but it seriously failed. The plot was lame, the acting was bad, and the ending was VERY predictable and ridiculous. NOT RECOMMANDED WATCHING A SILLY SETCOM ON TV IS ALOT BETTER!!!
Sure it's not super bad, but come on it is a little ridiculous the movie keeps up the tension however leads to a rather disappointing conclusion. Worth the 2 bucks, but overall quite forgettable.
Humm... You know what?... I'm not even sure about the above rating anymore. I've watched this film a while ago and back then I thought 3 stars would just do the trick. Well, now I just don't know. And it's not that I'm thinking it deserves more. Quite the opposite, actually.
Once again... What happened to the people who know how to write scripts? Good ones, I mean. Because the concept here's not all that bad.
There I was watching the film and thinking something like: "Oh, yeah... Any minute now... I'm sure there's a surprise coming in no time... Yep, it won't take long now...".
But then the ending credits came and... "Ladies and gentlemen, we're sorry to inform but our special guest, Mr. Surprise, won't be able to attend our reunion"... Great! Now you tell me...
Just so that you know, it's like they're going round in circles, wasting your precious time, only to tell you in the end what you already knew since right from the beginning. It's not a good sign when you think to yourself something like "Is that it?" as soon as a movie (or some other thing) is over. And that, unfortunately, is exactly what happened in my case.
As for the upside... Well, as I've said before, the concept behind it is rather good. Also, there's the mind game attempt. (No, I don't really think it deserves to be labelled as a mind game, but at least they tried.) And the best thing about this film is, without a shred of a doubt, Al Pacino himself. Always a pleasure watching the man perform, even when nothing else around him seems to work.
Well, maybe I'm being a little mean here. It's not a terrible movie. The thing is, I was expecting a lot more.
This was a very good film. I liked the plot because it keeps you guessing through out the movie. I loved the supporting cast for this movie which included Alicia Witt, Leelee Sobieski, and Amy Brenneman. Pacino was very good in this but that is to be expected.
Al Pacino is back in the thriller 88 Minutes. His performance as usual was very compelling but the movie itself wasnt all i expected and at times it dragged and stretched more then it should have. The plot twisted so much that it almost became a joke with new character sets and scenarios spawning out of knowhere , with an unsatisfying ending. Grandit it did have some suspenseful moments and it kept your attention, but 88 Minutes lacked a certain spark that sepeates average movies to the great ones.
Not as bad as the reviews I saw, but extremely stupid and generic. But enjoyable for "bad" Al Pacino performance with a cast of over/underactors and decent pace.
Pretty good, but has holes. Its a movie where the suspect keeps changing, in the end you think it could be everyone and anyone. Pacino does a good job, movie runs a bit too far off. Check it out if your looking for some suspense, and a not too perfect storyline.
Note: Embarrassement. Fellow actor of Al Pacino's, Robert de Niro hasn't made a movie you can sit through again since 1997's "Ronin" and let's hope that Pacino won't follow his path, making a pathetic, unintentional self-parody out of himself. Even if just the trailer of upcoming "Righetous Kill" makes us already feel otherwise...
Great movie! Here's an interesting story plot, although it was slightly rushed. Its well worthy because like the title deems, it was all factored in the name of 'action'. Al Pacino gives a stellar performance. This story plot details around his character who is both forensic psychiatrist and college professor, (sounds like a phenomenal career) he is caught up in the thriller of a killing spree that reflects the works of a serial killer that he helped imprisoned. This movie centralizes around the deeds of a copycat, and he searches for identity. Phenomenal conclusion. Great movie!! For those who highly enjoy action/suspense, this is definitely one to see.
Al Pacino starrs as Dr. Jack Graham, a tough and demented forensic pshycyatrist who has the vindiction of a crusading cop. Altough Pacino was perfect as always, he looks like a homeless bum, and he is so demented that I can't beleive that he's be an even semi-sucessful psycyatrist.
7 years before the incident, Graham locks away Jon Forster, a patethic Neal McDanough. Forster is now a day away from death row, recent incidents leave Jack in doubt as many beleive Forster is indeed innocent.
For some reason, every woman in this movie either wants to sleep with Graham or is a lesbian, and all these women are quite young.
San Francisco Chronicle | Mick LaSalle If you're like me and think that any Pacino movie is sort of worth seeing, so long as he never says, "Hoo-ha," then 88 Minutes won't be a total disappointment.
see pacino make his house payments live and onscreen! he might as well have done just that, it might've been more interesting. it's a teevee movie-of-the-week slotted with A-list stars and thrown on the big screen. okay, granted, they ARE A-list stars, and so they deliver the goods, but nobodys working this film, nobody, so that by the time the "surprise" ending comes, one could hardly care. one of my tests of a good film (do i have tests, you say? whatta think, i'm just watchin' this stuff?!?) is how much of the credits an audience stays to see...and on this one they were up out of their seats as soon as the first cred rolled, and i went on a weekend, prime movie watching time. also, lacking a large special effects budget, this one makes up for it by showing all of the characters on their cellphones. it doesn't make sense, i know, but...88% percent of the film is watching people talk on the phone.
