Good animation movie, story was original, and the animation was really cool, all in all a good animation movie :)

This was an extremely wonderful movie, it's short span time, a problem with most, was actually perfect in that it brought a fantastic and delightful story together and though it is a morality tale, it had a magic and wonder that is over-wrought in most animations of its kind.

Very good animation and actions but the story is actually very weird and hard to connect untill the end but are during the whole asking yourself why am I lost here!! still it's actually a good movie kind of short!! just like the number dolls but it has a huge cast and I mean in q...( read more)uality!!

9 takes place in a world parallel to our own, in which the very legacy of humanity is threatened. A group of sapient rag dolls, living a post-apocalyptic existence find one of their own, 9 (Elijah Wood), who displays leadership qualities that may help them to survive. The conflicted, but resilient group includes 1 (Christopher Plummer), a domineering war veteran; 2 (Martin Landau), an aged inventor; 5 (John C. Reilly), a stalwart mechanic; 6 (Crispin Glover), a visionary and artist; and 7 (Jennifer Connelly), a brave warrior. There are at least several malevolent creatures up against this group; namely, the cat-skulled creature from the short film, a split-headed flying being that resembles both a bat and a manta ray in wing shape, and an insectoid creature with jointed legs and a pod-like body. -cambaprecoz

Clocking in at a swift 80 minutes, 9 unfolds almost in real time at a breakneck pace. As in the short, viewers experience events through the eyes of the title character (voiced by Elijah Wood), one of nine dolls whose origins are shrouded in mystery. The movie begins with 9 gaining consciousness in a dilapidated room in a bombed-out building inhabited only by a long-dead body. Venturing outdoors, he crosses paths with another one of his kind, who escorts him to a carefully hidden bunker where the surviving dolls live, making sure to avoid the mechanical creatures that roam the ruins hunting down any remaining signs of life.

After an apocalyptic war between human and machines, the world is completely destroyed and without human life. The burlap doll 9 awakes without voice and finds a weird object in the middle of the debris that he brings with him. While walking through the ruins, 9 is attacked by a machine called Beast but he is saved by another doll called 2 that fixes his voice. 2 brings 9 to meet his hidden community, leaded by the coward 1. When 2 is captured by a machine, the newcomer 9 convinces the other dolls to go with him to rescue 2. However, 9 places the device that he found in a slot and activates a lethal machine called Brain. The burlap dolls are chased by Brain and despite the advices of 1 that they should hide, 9 organizes an attack to destroy Brain.

When 9 first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world where all humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they'll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.

Visually impressive and the familiar and simple but the good story. What it lacked was in the storytelling, I think.

Surprisingly epic. I did not think it would be too good when I walked in the cinema, but I nearly got a hard-on by the end. A real surprise packet.

I enjoyed this very much. Great storyline, beautiful animation with plenty of thrills to keep anybody interested. I suppose there's a moral to this tale somewhere.

Based on a short-film, '9' is an intriguing, weird, orginal film with stunning visuals and interesting concepts. Too dark for children, but it's thought provocative as it comments on the danger of society's over reliance with machines. These themes have been used time and again i...( read more)n such classic films like 'Terminator', 'Wall-E' and of course '2001'. While the story may seem familiar, classic even, the amount of creativity on display here is astounding.

The movie felt like it was more a short film than a whole movie. It had a lot of plot holes. But, the plain terminator/matrix theme was a win for me.

'9' is an exceptional movie that has stepped out of the preverbeal darkness and has stolen my heart. In fact, I would even go as far as to say that if this movie was a women then, I would ask for its hand in marriage!

Set in a post apocalyptic world, shortly after the huma...( read more)n race has been destroyed, a tiny robotic creature comes to life and explores the world out side to discover that he is not alone. In fact, there are 8 more like him.
However, the machines that helped to destroy humanity still lay dorment around the world, and 9 holds the key to their secret.

After the credits finished rolling, I was left in awe. I was already convinced that this would be your typical CGI animation. Boy, was I wrong!
If I was asked to compare this to any other movies out there I would honestly have to say that this is like an animated cross between 'The Borrowers' & 'V For Vendetta' with a small hint of '1984'.

This movie is both passionate and exciting with a top notch cast to provide the voices of our little heroic characters. On more than one occasion, it is more than easy to feel a hell of a lot of empathy for them.
The atmosphere of the surrounding locations through out the movie have a huge World War II feel to them but, with a small hint of futuristic detail. This helps lend a dark feel to the movie, especially during it's more frightening adventure scenes. The animation its self is outstanding. All in all, I would go as far as to say that this comes close to have all the right ingredients to make the perfect animated movie. However, if you have seen the legendary 'Akira' then, you will understand that this movie can only come close to such an accomplishment.

Like I have said previously, I have fallen head over heels in love with this movie! I highly recommend and encourage every one to see it. To me it has a lot of different elements that should please most different kinds of movie fans. Seriously, give a try!

This looks like a cross between The Matrix and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Creepy-assed animation. Looks intriguing, but might wait for the DVD.

As a film aimed for adults, it's flawed. The storyline has a lot of interesting potential, but it's plotting is very straight forward, too straight forward actually. I had hight expectations to this movie. Probably too high, without knowing anything about it. So I was disappointed. But not because it is a bad movie, but because it was more symbolic and less available than I prefer.

Pinocchio meets Terminator in this well-animated, but rather mediocre CGI flick. You'd think a movie produced by a creative genius like Tim Burton would be really amazing, but it seems his contribution to this has been meagre in reality. An advertisting trick, to lure more people...( read more) into watching it. Because altough you can sense his influence visually, the script sadly leaves a lot to desire. The dialogue is bland and the characters pretty soulless (which is ironic indeed, as they're supposed to be an anti-thesis to the robots, with their human values and emotions). Consequently, it failed to engage me. Fairly entertaining on the whole, but ultimately quite forgettable.
