Interesting work, not essentially horror, but horrific enough in statement and in execution to warrant a look. A forerunner of Spielberg and Kubrick's A.I. as well, in an odd sense. Explosions of blood and vomit from characters' orifices lead to a suitably fluid-spattered final...( read more)e.

Amateurish and aimless student-film type, it has everything from vomiting scenes to enough latex-dressed characters to give the Wachowski brothers a hard one. Too bad it doesn't have anything else that could be worth a check.

really interesting, a bit confusing but worth a watch (as always, if you like the weird and unusual). And Im looking for "rubbers lovers" for years (same director)... If anybody have a comment to add, please do.

this is dirty in-your-face cyberPUNK at its purest, a more expressive, irrational noisy and delirious side of the cyberpunk film movement, as in contemporary horror, unlike most westerners dealing with the subject- the japanese dont feel a need to "make sense" all the time, which...( read more) in many cases doesnt really produce non-sense but its hostile delirium is the message itself, a pure low-fi techno-psychosis that couldnt bring out rare, specific emotions that it carries if it would have been done in any other way.. 964 pinocchio is such a film, dealing with a simple story of a erection-less (dysfunctional) memory wiped out sex slave on the run meeting a memory wiped out girl of undefined origin they start having a strange sadomasochist relationship (in a not very overtly sexual way, additionally- we are not sure wether they really did have actual sex that one time when the scene gets interrupted or not, both options could give a slightly different meaning to what begins to happen afterward) with each other, at the same time the slaves company is searching for him in order for their experiments not to be exposed to the general public, "or whatever".. many not entirely graspable events follow, directed in a way that brings out some of the most disturbing and at the same time pretty cathartic scenes, long shots of torture, vomiting and screaming might look amateurish and purely decorative to some yet in my opinion shozin fukui directs this flick pretty neatly and convincingly within its own set of rules, while it seems that in his "rubbers lover", which deals with similar themes, much more stuff is going on, and i find it also a very fine film, it lacks lots of pinocchios wild energy that literally screams in your face with a chance that one maybe recognize it the screaming of its own frustrated reflection in it.. in the end there is a scene with a huge swollen head transformation, its horror slightly resembling the end of chestertons "man who was thursday" novel ending.. but not necessarily.. anyhow, id recommend this!

I enjoyed Rubber's Lover by the same filmmaker (or at least I think I did), but this one is kind of lousy. There's potential, but there's also too many freakout scenes that go on for way too long. A more competent editor could've definitely trimmed this movie down a lot...

Cyberpunk or not, this film did not do it for me. It seemed to me it was just another case of "style over substance", and it does have style, but it doesn't have enough substance to merit a full length film.

Pinocchio 964, lobotomised cyborg sex slave, is thrown out onto the street by his owners because of his inability to maintain an erection. He is befriended by a criminally insane, memory-wiped, homeless girl. Meanwhile, the corporate entity who manufactured and sold him plots to ...( read more)kill him because of his malfunction.

wow... what can i say 'bout this movie? hmmm... at first glance this movie was easy to follow... but after for a while... there's so much illustration about human exceedingly behaviour and contamination... and it's nice... very nice indeed... it ask us... what if human body can't...( read more) handle their soul and mind suddenly... it's quite cyberpunk from the theme... but not all for the visualization... but definetly must watch...
