Lightly entertaining movie, not meant to be historically acurate, but only to capitalize on Heath Ledger's (at the time) rising fame and appeal.

A Kinght's Tale is one of my all time favorite film. Ths movie made me like jousting, kinghts and medieval age. It was a combination of humor, adventure, love and passion. When I was watching this film, I imagined that I was the Knight, covered with that strong armor and fighting villains (I didn't include winning your lady love because it doesn't apply to me. . hehe) This was the movie that made me love Heath Ledger. I remembered how I imagined myself to be just like him in that movie. :p

A Knight's tale is an amazing film. An intense period film with some relaxation of comedy involved. Heath Ledger & Rufus Sewell make the film what it is - and Shannyn Sossamon is insanly cute from the opening seen to the final scene.

This movie is packing action, comedy, romance, and everything in between. It's a true midevil peice in a time of noble knight's where jousting was the sport of the world and peasants seeked to change the stars.

Overall it's a great movie worth more then a few watches. The only negatives is the outcome is predictable from the opening scene with a typical fairy tale ending and the soundtrack is a 80's soundtrack. I'm not complaining, but when the opening scene consist of townspeople from the 14th century singing "We will rock you" it made for a bit odd. I wasnt aware that was written yet ;). Really it went a little overboard with comedy that this film did not need to make any better - as it was already fine enough but it still comes out on top.

One of the first movies in which I saw Heath Ledger. Occasional anachronisms coupled with a sharp story made this quite enjoyable.

It has a alright message about following your dreams and not giving up. The romance part of the story could have been a bit better. It was well casted and funny. The really modren music was starange but it kinda worked for this moive.

Heath is so good is that movie. He was only 21, but still he showed an amazing comprehension of his character. Nice soundtrack: a mix of rock music on a medieval film.

As a comedy, this movie was gold. Heath Ledger was a solid choice for the lead, although I got the most enjoyment out of seeing Alan Tudyk. Paul Bettany and Mark Addy were also nicely cast. The inclusion of modern music at certain points adds to the comedy, while at others is somewhat distracting and silly. The main problem with this movie was the love story, which sadly fell flat. Shannyn Sossamon was annoying, both in her acting and her character development. Overall a fun and unusal film.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm about to pay a tribute to the late Heath Ledger by reviewing three of his movies starting with this medieval dramedy with a modern twist. I never really care for Heath Ledger and this movie, but I thought I'd give it a try and the results are...well, rather mixed.

In "A Knight's Tale", Heath Ledger is a peasant who wants to become a knight. But the problem is, he doesn't have any skills for it. So he makes his friends train him for it. When they show up for jousting, he pretends that he is already a knight with many wins. While he's there, he meets Lady Jocelyn (Shannyn Sossamon) and of course he falls for her at first sight and he'll do anything to win her love.

Let's face it, "A Knight's Tale" is a love story. Here we have Heath Ledger's character wanting to be a knight and he'll do whatever it takes just to be with some chick he loves. If you think that a movie based on the medieval period set to modern rock music is a silly idea, then why bother renting it? But if you don't give a rip and just wanna see this movie just for the pleasure of having a great time watching a movie, then go for it. "A Knight's Tale" is funny on a few occasions and yet most of the dialogue is downright cheesy. The actors did a a really good job and it has a good story and a great message behind it, but " A Knight's Tale" is way too cute and romantic and i'm not into that. Overall, "A Knight's Tale" was alright. I give it 2 out of 5 stars.

Pretty good. This is an honest score considering I'm a Heath-fangirl, also. The one love interest William had made me cringe--someone who doesn't respect others' values and can still say it's a relationship needs a reality check. She was selfish and whiny.
His father and son reunion was touching and all the more heartbreaking with his father's blindness. One direction I would revise if I made this movie would be to cut out the little William when William enters his village for the first time in years. I got the message before he was even shown. It was unnecessary other than William looking behind him again. And yes, the soundtrack was odd and somewhat out of place, but it got the job done.

It is strange to think, I haven't seen you since a month. I have seen the new moon, but not you. I have seen sunsets and sunrises, but nothing of your beautiful face. The pieces of my broken heart are so small that they could be passed through the eye of a needle. I miss you like the sun misses the flower; like the sun misses the flower in the depths of winter. Instead of beauty to direct its light to, the heart hardens like the frozen world your absence has banished me to. I next compete in the city of Paris, I will find it empty and in the winter if you are not there. Hope guides me, that is what gets me through the day and the night. The hope that after you're gone from my sight, it will not be the last time that I look upon you.

    Directed by: Brian Helgeland
Starring:Heath Ledger, Mark Addy, Rufus Sewell, Shannyn Sossamon, Paul Bettany

    Genre: Action/Adventure/Comedy/Romance

    Running time: 129 minutes

    My review:

I didnt like this film that much at all really because it was a weak script from Brian Helgeland and extremely weak acting from the late and talented Heath Ledger. I was mostly disappointed with Rufus Sewell, Shannyn Sossamon and particularly Paul Bettany. Paul Bettany really irritates me anyway but I did like Wimbledon though. Heath Ledger is one of my favourite actors and he had yet failed me but when I watched this film, this is one of his films I didnt like. I guess it is fair enough that Heath Ledger accepted this film because he wasnt that well known until Brokeback Mountain and then Dark Knight just after he died. Heath Ledger plays the lowly medieval squire turned celebrity knight who enters a jousting tournament with the hope of besting Rufus Sewell's dastardly knight and winning the hand of Shannyn Sossamon's damsel. Despite the negative points that I have made about this film, the action and music is good. All I can say is that film is fun nothing more but nothing serious.

I immediately fell in love with this movie. Not just because of Heath Ledger but because of the rock era meeting the midddle ages. It brougth the movie to life and it kept the story line going. This movie has everything from action, romance, comedy and good versus evil. Yes, you too can change your stars, and this movie proves how a young man sent off to be groomed as a squire can someday become a knight. And with his friends in tow, he manages to win the girl, beat the bad guy and joust his way into everyone's hearts. A must see for any fan of the middle ages and Heath Ledger of course.

Unorthodox at best, this movie was a real delight. With a classic rock soundtrack set to a medevil storyline, this story is the true meaning of fairytale.

Just for fun and kicks - and the best of the 70s rock soundtrack. A young peasant boy rises up and as a young man "changes the direction of his stars" by becoming a Knight. Lovely story of friendship, loyalties and most of all about forming our own destinies; but never by sacraficing integrity.

Very entertaining.I can see how Heath Ledger had such widespread sex appeal. I thought the contemporary soundtrack was clever and interesting.
