    holy crap, see this movie!!!!
  • August 18, 2008
I much prefer the french cover of this DVD as it gives nothing away. This sucker is about as intense as anything that has come out this year. I have complete and utter admiration for the filmmakers ability to show this much blood & gore and still have it feel artistic rather than...( read more) exploitative. If you havn't seen this yet, rent it tonight.

un film tres gore, a  déconseiller aux ames sensibles, surtout aux jeunes femmes enceintes !!!
  • August 17, 2008
The first-time reading of the movie plot struck my fear of what's hidden inside the unconsciousness. Something unnameable, nonetheless, this movie brings me to the goriest scene when the redness of the blood is just the artistic expression and childbearing finale reminds us of th...( read more)e importance of the madwoman-cum-midwife. The color tone is unavoidably depressing due to the recurring theme of psychological and physical continuing losses. The setting is the most impressive element when all heart-stopping action scenes occur in a two-storey house. The big question is to whom the house really belongs to.

Mark my words, "Inside" is not a pleasant experience. But if you're looking for your blood to boil and your heart to pound, then don't miss this

Horrible à souhait ! Une vraie boucherie !
  • August 3, 2008
Sick, disturbing, and beautiful. A truly visceral experience and a superbly made shocker. The new wave in horror is here and for some reason, it's from France.

Probably the best horror film since Audition
  • August 3, 2008
One of the better horror movies I've seen in the last few years and proof that all the good horror movies these days come from everywhere but America (enough with the goddamn remakes already you stupid Americans!). I'm glad no one hyped this up for me otherwise I probably wouldn...( read more)'t have liked it as much, because it definitely has it's flaws. But it's nice to know people in horror movies from other countries are just as stupid as people in American horror movies. Very little plot, but extremely heavy on atmosphere and gore. The gore and violence in this movie is insane! It makes the Saw series look like Disney movies by comparison. It's clear the guys who made this movie also love Dario Argento, because I could see so much stuff taken from his films. A nice, very basic story, gore that will be hard for most people to watch, some creepy atmosphere...but sadly lot's of stupid people. Something so dumb happens at the end it almost ruined the movie. Regardless, it's a must see for horror fans and gets better with each viewing.

Jesus H. Christ, what a bestial bloodbath! Literally as well as methaphorically. This deadly serious, relentless horror really shakes you up, by the end endlessly balancing on the verge of absurdity. It is as brutal as it gets.

The plot is simple: sociopathic woman (Beatrice ...( read more)Dalle) desperately wants a baby from pregnant one (Alysson Paradis) and she does everything to get it, if you get the idea already. Impressive special effects, disturbing editing, noisish soundtrack and brilliant work of make-up department adds up to inner states of the two.

This is very heavy stuff but it's decently written, well-directed and uncompromising without chesseness of recent torture flicks and I haven't seen that kind in a while.

This very bloody film makes for some extremely intense moments & great performances by the leading actresses. The best horror film out of France.Horror sites been giving this film great reviews but horror fans will be hooked on this one.Beware of the scissors.

remember the movie in "crazy people" they advertise will "fuck you up for life"? this is that movie.

"À l'intérieur", also known as "Inside", is quite frankly - a masterpiece in french film-making. This movie is absolutely bloody, fantastic and gripping from the start to finish and this movie is a must-see for all horror fans. As a horror fan myself, I can easily say this has to...( read more) be one of the bloodiest, most brutal movies I have ever seen. This movie is not for the faint of heart, and I really do recommend this gem - it is a must-see.

The movie opens up with a disturbing shot of a baby inside of a womb, suddenly being thrown around as blood pours inside the womb. We cut to a car crash, which leaves Sarah (Alysson Paradis) alive, but her boyfriend very much dead. A few months later at Christmas, Sarah is home alone and waiting for her baby to arrive. However, later that night, Sarah receives a mysterious female visitor (Beatrice Dalle) who wants to use her phone. When Sarah declines, all hell breaks loose when in the next couple of hours...the woman makes it quite clear, with the help of a sharp pair of scissors, that she wants something from Sarah...something from INSIDE. The plot is original first of all, because I for one haven't seen any other movie like this.

Inside is a bloody roller-coaster of a film and is very, very brutal throughout. It is one of the most brutal movies I have ever witnessed, and just when people thought movies like "Saw" and "Hostel" were too much...they will be soaking their pants when they see this! The kills in this movie are absolutely bloody, horrific and effective. It all looks very real and the killer herself, is a psychotic woman who shows no remorse. She's completely binded by an image of the baby that she wants to get, and will kill anyone in her path trying to stop her. This really is an excellent horror film, and considering it's the directors' first - they deserve major respect for this balls-to-the-wall horror film.

The acting is great from both actresses and the supporting roles. Each of the women both give depth to their characters as we watch both sides of the story - a pregnant woman trying to protect herself and her baby, and a crazed woman who wants this baby so much. From the outset, you might just assume that she just wants to get the baby...but there's more to it than that if you watch the film - think of the word "Revenge". Both actresses do great jobs with their characters, and during the movie you will feel sorry for both the victim, and the villain herself. That's one of the things I love about the movie - the tragic character of the villain. She's one of the best female villains I've ever witnessed in a film.

Inside really is a masterpiece of a movie, and I am impressed to the max with this movie. It has suspense, violence, tension, mystery and enough blood and gore to decorate a house with. I can see why all the reviews have been praising this movie because this movie is an excellent film. This movie is a masterpiece and is now one of my favorite horror films of all time -

Attention gore lovers...Want to see a crazy lady go on a bloody massacre with a pair of scissors and slice and dice till there's no tomorrow? Well then this is the movie for you to see. There's gore galore in this blood bath of a horror film, but make sure you watch the unrated v...( read more)ersion to get the full effect. This movie is pretty damn extreme. Great cinematography as well, and some pretty creepy moments in between.

"Inside begins with a young pregnant women and her husband driving in a car when they get into a horrible car accident. The women's husband dies, but her and the baby are ok. Months pass and it's Christmas time, the women who's name is Sarah is still upset over the loss of her husband. On Christmas Eve while home alone a women mysteriously appears at her door, however this women is not there to befriend Sarah, she is there to kill her. Locked in a bathroom, Sarah fights to save her and her unborn child's' s life, as each and every person that comes to her rescue is killed by this madwomen in her house. Sarah soon realizes that the only way she will get out of this mess alive is to confront the mad women herself."

    I recommend this!

After screening the film at last year?s Toronto International Film Festival, it was clear it was destined for a straight to DVD release ? not because it was bad but because it would never be accepted by mainstream audiences or the theatres they frequent..

This film is definite...( read more)ly not for the faint of heart or weak-stomached. Marketed as a horror-thriller, there is never a dull moment or lack of blood; neutral coloured sets are sprayed red and costumes are irreversibly stained. While the violence may seem brutal and unnerving, it does not occur outside of the narrative...

Paradis? resolute fight to survive is stirring; while Dalle?s insane determination to achieve her goal is horrifying...

?It?s only cinema. You can do everything on screen.? This was the filmmakers? response when asked if there was anything they felt they could not do in the film, for reasons related to decency or morality. Writer/director Alexandre Bustillo and co-director Julien Maury take this statement to the limit in terms of violence, gore and unthinkable horror in this, their first film...

Quite the troubling little film, this, and not least because its queasy plot hinges on terrible, terrible things happening to a very pregnant lady. With its astonishingly gruesome violence, its relentlessly morbid atmosphere of impending doom, and many sequences of squirm-inducin...( read more)g trauma (psychological as well as physical), 'Inside' is incredibly unpleasant - but it's also nicely tempered by the meticulously careful, stylish direction of Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury. It's to the film's credit that the almost ridiculously exploitative nature of the plot is given as much credibility as it is by the thoughtful and smart approach to the proceedings, as well as by the often brilliant performances of the two lead actresses. Regrettably, 'Inside' eventually succumbs to a predictably nihilistic conclusion that renders the whole affair largely pointless, but there's no denying that this film is exceptionally good at getting under your skin.

gripping..boy the French are messed up!

this movie is very interesting. I enjoyed it alot, plenty of gore and action once the movie gets rolling!
  • August 3, 2008
Such a dark and gory movie that suprisingly comes out of France. Definitly not for the weak or pregnant!
  • August 3, 2008
so much gore and what !a blood fest,if you like gore an dblood than here you have it .
  • August 3, 2008
Crazily violent and grisly in its detail, this film pits a pregnant woman against a strange woman who shows up at her house intent on stealing her unborn child, by cutting it right from her womb.

Relentlessly gory and violent without being gratuitous, this is a really great horr...( read more)or film, but not for anyone with a weak stomach.

    Recommended.

Gripping and gruesome tale of preggers vs. scissors - although there's more craft there than it may seem/deserve.
  • August 3, 2008
Thoroughly reprehensible and offensive. Chock full of gratuitous violence that greatly undermines some genuinely suspenseful moments. This is borderline snuff porn. I'm ashamed for wasting my time on this.
  • August 3, 2008
I really quite liked this. Good movie, good gore... that's... good stuff.
  • August 3, 2008
A star and a half for alright deaths and gore and shit. But wow, what a stupid movie with stupid people. Especially the "police"... Were they ever goddamn stupid. Buddy doesn't call for backup when he hears gunshots in the house, takes a handcuffed prisoner in with him, and then ...( read more)gives his prisoner a weapon... Stupid shit. The ending is retarded too. This movie was just stupid. Don't know what else to say.
  • August 3, 2008
Best horror film I've seen in a long time, stunning, amazing, a masterpiece.
  • August 3, 2008
Worth a watch though the gore can be needlessly excessive at times.
  • August 1, 2008
This movie is sick... so why did I watch it?
  • July 27, 2008
Shocking. Disturbing. Violent. Stupid. This film could've been soooo good but when the last third of the film starts, the movie goes down and fast!

The start was really intense with an interesting setup for the 'event' but then it started to become a typical horror slasher film...( read more) instead of the good thriller it could've been.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy a good slasher every now or then but the totally idiotic and unrealistic script turns in the end of the film had a negative effect on me. Thumbs up for the idea but a smack in the face for the execution.

  • July 21, 2008
amazing film! unbelievably scary and extremely gory!
  • June 22, 2008
Still grieving over her recently deceased husband, a pregnant woman, alone on the eve of her delivery, is terrorized by a raging psychopathic woman who is determined to retrieve the baby from her womb.
  • June 8, 2008
This is not intended for pregnant women! Nor for the faint of heart... nor for children...
If you're interested in 1,5 hours of pure violence, give it a go :)

Before I had heard anything about this French horror/thriller, I actually saw it sitting on the shelf of my local DVD outlet. I picked it up read the back and it seemed interesting; but it was released on the Dimension Extreme label here in the US, and their titles are pretty muc...( read more)h hit or miss. I decided to wait. After having it recommended to me many times by various Flixter friends, I finally picked it up. I shouldn't have waited. Believe the hype! This movie delivers big time. If you're into splatter and gore (especially the realistic variety), then do not hesitate to get this movie. But it offers more than that. The story was very involving, the cinematography as well as the soundtrack was excellent, there was tension and suspense in some scenes, the actors performances ranged from adequate to excellent, and the ending didn't suck. The twist ending is nothing new to the horror/thriller genre, but ever since SAW was released outlandish twist endings have become de rigueur. And speaking of twist endings another French gore movie comes to mind - HIGH TENSION. I loved HIGH TENSION and I thought the ending was interesting, but it came so far out of leftfield that it became implausible and left lots of plot holes in the story. I'm thankful to say that INSIDE manages to avoid the outlandish twist ending cliché for the most part. A very astute viewer might be able to figure out where the ending is going, but I didn't see it coming; and when it did come it was believable enough. In closing, INSIDE is a very rewarding experience for jaded gorehounds (like myself) and for adventurous arthouse lovers (with strong stomachs).

i really enjoyed this. i hope everyone saw an import version and not the dimension extreme version with 8 minutes cut out. brutal, intense and immensely F ed up. i gained new respect for the french.

This is an almost flawless horror film. I have to admit, this one even horrified me, and I thought I was pretty jaded when it comes to horror flicks. I winced, I squirmed, I even said OMG out loud a number of times. And thankfully, this one did not crap out at the end - it was...( read more) unexpected and conclusive. (Although this is NOT recommended if you are the least bit squeamish)

[SPOILERS!!!] I think the hype on this one is really getting out of hand. While I'll admit that it's certainly darker and nastier than anything mainstream U.S. horror films have offered in a long time, I just don't think it's all that good. It had me for the first twenty minutes ...( read more)or so, but after that point, the movie decided to throw logic and credibility out the window. Characters behaved like complete idiots. (The main character somehow doesn't recognize her own mother's voice or appearance and accidentally kills her. A police officer gives the main character a gun without asking her if she knows how to use it and then, rather than trying to get her out of the house and to a hospital, leaves her so he can try to turn the electricity back on. Predictably, he and a perp from a previous arrest he has tethered to himself (??!!) are killed.) Then there's the scene where a character just so happens to have everything necessary to a) set someone on fire, b) give herself an emergency tracheotomy,--by this point, we've been given no evidence that she has any medical knowledge, she doesn't appear to use any kind of tube to keep the opening from closing up, and she doesn't seem to feel any discomfort from this--and c) construct a crude spear (made from a kitchen knife and a telescoping metal tube into which the knife's handle just so happens to fit snugly) all within a five-foot radius of her. The final shot of the movie is incredibly striking, but everything that leads up to it is so ridiculous that it failed to affect me in the way the makers intended. I think this might have worked better as a 50-minute episode of Masters of Horror, since even 82 minutes was too long for this story. Aside from the competent direction, the only other positive thing I can offer is that, if you're looking for a movie with tons of gratuitous gore and violence against pregnant women, here's the flick for you!

Brutal Brutal Brutal. I loved everything about this movie. What a masterpiece of cinema!!!!!
  • May 20, 2008
Wow...I won't really say much that hasn't been said already. I am generally not a big fan of french cinema, for any genre. I did like a couple french horrors (haute tension, in my skin, and malefique) but that is about it. I have to say, with the number of french horrors that...( read more) were hyped up and turned out to be, in my eyes, disappointments, this one is definitely NOT in that category along with sheitan, dead end, and calvaire. Inside is everything you've heard it is, and even more. Though there are a few things that require supension of disbelief...it is ootherwise flawless.

Great cinematography, wonderful script, mindblowing performances, and that OTT gore everyone else has mentioned.

I reccomend ALL blasé horror fans to check this out.
