Such a dark and gory movie that suprisingly comes out of France. Definitly not for the weak or pregnant!
  • August 3, 2008
so much gore and what !a blood fest,if you like gore an dblood than here you have it .
  • August 3, 2008
Crazily violent and grisly in its detail, this film pits a pregnant woman against a strange woman who shows up at her house intent on stealing her unborn child, by cutting it right from her womb.

Relentlessly gory and violent without being gratuitous, this is a really great horr...( read more)or film, but not for anyone with a weak stomach.

    Recommended.

Gripping and gruesome tale of preggers vs. scissors - although there's more craft there than it may seem/deserve.
  • August 3, 2008
Thoroughly reprehensible and offensive. Chock full of gratuitous violence that greatly undermines some genuinely suspenseful moments. This is borderline snuff porn. I'm ashamed for wasting my time on this.
  • August 3, 2008
I really quite liked this. Good movie, good gore... that's... good stuff.
  • August 3, 2008
A star and a half for alright deaths and gore and shit. But wow, what a stupid movie with stupid people. Especially the "police"... Were they ever goddamn stupid. Buddy doesn't call for backup when he hears gunshots in the house, takes a handcuffed prisoner in with him, and then ...( read more)gives his prisoner a weapon... Stupid shit. The ending is retarded too. This movie was just stupid. Don't know what else to say.
  • August 3, 2008
Best horror film I've seen in a long time, stunning, amazing, a masterpiece.
  • August 3, 2008
Worth a watch though the gore can be needlessly excessive at times.
  • August 1, 2008
This movie is sick... so why did I watch it?
  • July 27, 2008
Shocking. Disturbing. Violent. Stupid. This film could've been soooo good but when the last third of the film starts, the movie goes down and fast!

The start was really intense with an interesting setup for the 'event' but then it started to become a typical horror slasher film...( read more) instead of the good thriller it could've been.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy a good slasher every now or then but the totally idiotic and unrealistic script turns in the end of the film had a negative effect on me. Thumbs up for the idea but a smack in the face for the execution.

  • July 21, 2008
amazing film! unbelievably scary and extremely gory!
  • June 22, 2008
Still grieving over her recently deceased husband, a pregnant woman, alone on the eve of her delivery, is terrorized by a raging psychopathic woman who is determined to retrieve the baby from her womb.
  • June 8, 2008
This is not intended for pregnant women! Nor for the faint of heart... nor for children...
If you're interested in 1,5 hours of pure violence, give it a go :)

Before I had heard anything about this French horror/thriller, I actually saw it sitting on the shelf of my local DVD outlet. I picked it up read the back and it seemed interesting; but it was released on the Dimension Extreme label here in the US, and their titles are pretty muc...( read more)h hit or miss. I decided to wait. After having it recommended to me many times by various Flixter friends, I finally picked it up. I shouldn't have waited. Believe the hype! This movie delivers big time. If you're into splatter and gore (especially the realistic variety), then do not hesitate to get this movie. But it offers more than that. The story was very involving, the cinematography as well as the soundtrack was excellent, there was tension and suspense in some scenes, the actors performances ranged from adequate to excellent, and the ending didn't suck. The twist ending is nothing new to the horror/thriller genre, but ever since SAW was released outlandish twist endings have become de rigueur. And speaking of twist endings another French gore movie comes to mind - HIGH TENSION. I loved HIGH TENSION and I thought the ending was interesting, but it came so far out of leftfield that it became implausible and left lots of plot holes in the story. I'm thankful to say that INSIDE manages to avoid the outlandish twist ending cliché for the most part. A very astute viewer might be able to figure out where the ending is going, but I didn't see it coming; and when it did come it was believable enough. In closing, INSIDE is a very rewarding experience for jaded gorehounds (like myself) and for adventurous arthouse lovers (with strong stomachs).

i really enjoyed this. i hope everyone saw an import version and not the dimension extreme version with 8 minutes cut out. brutal, intense and immensely F ed up. i gained new respect for the french.

This is an almost flawless horror film. I have to admit, this one even horrified me, and I thought I was pretty jaded when it comes to horror flicks. I winced, I squirmed, I even said OMG out loud a number of times. And thankfully, this one did not crap out at the end - it was...( read more) unexpected and conclusive. (Although this is NOT recommended if you are the least bit squeamish)

[SPOILERS!!!] I think the hype on this one is really getting out of hand. While I'll admit that it's certainly darker and nastier than anything mainstream U.S. horror films have offered in a long time, I just don't think it's all that good. It had me for the first twenty minutes ...( read more)or so, but after that point, the movie decided to throw logic and credibility out the window. Characters behaved like complete idiots. (The main character somehow doesn't recognize her own mother's voice or appearance and accidentally kills her. A police officer gives the main character a gun without asking her if she knows how to use it and then, rather than trying to get her out of the house and to a hospital, leaves her so he can try to turn the electricity back on. Predictably, he and a perp from a previous arrest he has tethered to himself (??!!) are killed.) Then there's the scene where a character just so happens to have everything necessary to a) set someone on fire, b) give herself an emergency tracheotomy,--by this point, we've been given no evidence that she has any medical knowledge, she doesn't appear to use any kind of tube to keep the opening from closing up, and she doesn't seem to feel any discomfort from this--and c) construct a crude spear (made from a kitchen knife and a telescoping metal tube into which the knife's handle just so happens to fit snugly) all within a five-foot radius of her. The final shot of the movie is incredibly striking, but everything that leads up to it is so ridiculous that it failed to affect me in the way the makers intended. I think this might have worked better as a 50-minute episode of Masters of Horror, since even 82 minutes was too long for this story. Aside from the competent direction, the only other positive thing I can offer is that, if you're looking for a movie with tons of gratuitous gore and violence against pregnant women, here's the flick for you!

Brutal Brutal Brutal. I loved everything about this movie. What a masterpiece of cinema!!!!!
  • May 20, 2008
Wow...I won't really say much that hasn't been said already. I am generally not a big fan of french cinema, for any genre. I did like a couple french horrors (haute tension, in my skin, and malefique) but that is about it. I have to say, with the number of french horrors that...( read more) were hyped up and turned out to be, in my eyes, disappointments, this one is definitely NOT in that category along with sheitan, dead end, and calvaire. Inside is everything you've heard it is, and even more. Though there are a few things that require supension of disbelief...it is ootherwise flawless.

Great cinematography, wonderful script, mindblowing performances, and that OTT gore everyone else has mentioned.

I reccomend ALL blasé horror fans to check this out.
  • May 20, 2008
I don't say this very often about newer horror films, but this movie FUCKING RULED. It had everything I expect a horror film to have, gore, hot french babes, madness, and one awesome storyline. It kicked my ass and I don't really remember if it had any tits or not...it was TOO BU...( read more)SY KICKING MY ASS!!! {it didn't I watched it for the fourth time earlier today and now I am rating it} I loved this movie...I really really did. Absolutely horrifying and bleak! This is a stand out horror flick that is, unforunately, has a couple of hitches.
First there was a sequence that interrupts the pacing of the film with some jarring and flashy editing. I get what they were going for, but it was a little cliche a...( read more)nd didn't really work in my opinion.
Second, some of the side characters are just plain moronic, like the idiot cops.
There was also a couple moments that didn't make much sense to me. One with a cat (it just seemed ham-fisted compared to the rest of the character portrayal) and one with the cop at the end...what the fuck happened there?
And just to nit-pick there was also cliche bit near the end that got a groan out of me.
BUT, all that aside (and let's be honest, those are fairly minor complaints) it is a very well crafted film.
The pacing was more or less perfect and the atmosphere was as thick as smog, thanks in no small part to the score.
I of course have to mention the excellent performances of Alysson Paradis as the main character Sarah and Beatrice Dalle as La Femme. Dalle in particular did a wonderful job bringing her character to life in a very believable way.
Speaking of which, what a treat it is to have a villian in a slasher flick driven by complex motivations and displaying a wide range of emotional responses.
When talking about this flick it would be remiss to not mention the spectacular violence. It's brutal, it's sadistic, and it's oozing gore. There are some moments that actually made me cringe; maybe not much, but even a little reaction is more than most movie violence would get from me!
  • May 14, 2008
This movie was seriously brutal! I mean, at the end, I just felt dirty having watched it. It's really really crazy.

A gruesome, gory, tense little thriller with loads of gushing blood. In the great French tradition of the Grand Guignol. One of the more brutal horror flicks I've seen lately. Short and to the point. Heh.
  • April 30, 2008
This movie has to be one of the most brutal movies I've seen in a long time.
  • April 30, 2008
There has been quite a buzz going around for this bloody film. This has to be one of the most brutal films I've seen in awhile.Absolutely a great gory horror film.
  • April 26, 2008
Graphically violent, intense and sickening. A creative modern horror movie that is unbelievable brutal at times.
  • April 25, 2008
This is a very gory and violented horror movie. Some sick scenes aswell many may think. The movie itself could have been better then it was. Perhaps more thriller with a deeper story and less gore.. Anyway if u like blood and brutal death scenes , enjoy.
  • April 24, 2008
    Insanely gorey and twisted.
  • April 22, 2008
Wow!!! Demented, sick, and a mind-fuck all in one... Has a couple typical heroine-acting-the-idiot parts... but all-in-all one of the better horror films of the decade
  • April 22, 2008
Believe the hype because is a Bloodbath but also an incredibly tense movie. The ending was quite disturbing & i love it.
  • April 22, 2008
You know, every now and then, you bump across a movie that makes you think it's all worth it, that makes you wonder why can't at least most movies be like that, and that makes you glad you're still giving some genres a chance in today's cinema...

That being said, let's talk abou...( read more)t this piece of crap.

Let me sum up what you get if you decide to go for this one:
    - more useless blood than the one wasted on the bodies of the HSM cast;
    - a plot as predictable as a muslim wearing a dynamite belt (although they actually tried otherwise);
    - a core of suposedly realistic scenes that even a Family Guy's episode would find surreal as hell;
    - a headache.
A "Why the fuck is Celine Dion singing in my front porch, and where the fuck did I put my razors???" kind of headache.

    That's pretty much it.

And here are the ONLY reasons why I'm rating this with 1.5 stars:
    1) the basic idea is there, and had they picked it up from a different angle, this could actually turn out to be quite good, as a couple of scenes led me to believe at first;
    2) Not sure.
Probably something to do with French chicks covered in blood.
Even in ridiculous amounts of blood.

But I guess the thing that baffles me the most is how on earth can this move be as highly regarded as it is.

    Oh, wait!
I think I found the answer to that one.

Can I try "Mass Idiocy" for 10 points?

(Say, you think there's still time for you to get me a place in that mothership you speak of? I would gladly pay for my ticket.

Plus I'd let you choose the payment type.)

Wow, the best thing to come outta France since, well french fries.
Sadistic, bleak and just plain F'ed up this one ain't for the faint of heart or pregnant women.
  • April 21, 2008
Wow, this was some pretty sick shit. There was no fun unlike in other slashers. At least here there was a very good attempt at realism and explaining the psycho-woman's motives which seemed fair enough imo. Definititely enough blood and gore as I would expect from such a film. No...( read more)t quite the ending I wanted, but it did make sense the most. This is horror for people who can't stand typical horror slashers. Quality stuff.
  • April 21, 2008
Sadistic, vicious, and nasty. This is bound to be a cult classic.

Even seasoned extreme cinema fans will likely find a scene or two here that will make them uncomfortable.

Given the short length and relatively small cast, À l'intérieur has a staggering level of violence and gore.
  • April 20, 2008
What a terrific, terrific, TERRIFIC film this is. Yes, this is a horror FILM. Even from the very beginning it was gory, suspenseful, and visually stunning. There could've been a little more character development in the beginning just so we would have more backstory and sympathy f...( read more)or the characters involved. Then the film got very intense and suspenseful. From there it turned into a blood fest only for the gore hounds! Seriously, there was so much violence and gore, which was a very good thing. One of my favorite things of this film is that the music is almost constantly playing, and it's very subtle with works well with all of the gore that is happening. Overall a tremendous film with great acting, even better gore, a good plot. By far one of the best horror films ever made.
  • April 20, 2008
This movie is f*%$%@ sick, this is one of the most bloodiest, goriest and twisted movies I have seen in a long time. The plot of the movie is pretty simple, there isn't much to it, also the movie isn't scary at all.

Some of the characters do some pretty stupid things...( read more), specially the main character almost the end of the movie she does something that totally makes no sense.

Overall the movie is not scary but it is sure entertaining, if you like movies with a lot of gore and blood this is the one for you.
  • April 18, 2008
A frightening splatterfest with few shocks & intense bloodshed scenes that will have people squirming in their seats.Superb score, great direction & some good performances. The film is heading to be a horror classic or cult hit.
  • April 16, 2008
This is a very bloody, disturbing and violent movie, but it also offers an amount of tension and suspense which is rarely seen in gory films.
  • April 13, 2008
Man, this film was fucked-up, I mean really fucked-up. In the last few years France has been leading the pack when it comes to making real horror films and this one is no exception, in fact this would have to be my favourite pick of the bunch. This is a really intense, disturbing...( read more) and brutal film that kept me glued to the screen from beginning to end. Alysson Paradis and Béatrice Dalle (who is the frightening villian I have seen in a horror film since "Wolf Creek") both give great performances and the direction by first-timers Alexandre Bustillo & Julien Maury (the former wrote the script) is extremely well-done. What I loved about it was that they took the less-is-more approach, which makes the film really effective. The score is terrific, there are scenes that were really chilling and the gore was pretty gruesome (especially towards the end *shudders*). While it isn't perfect and it does suffer from flaws that stop it from being a modern day horror classic, the main one being that despite a killer being in the house that none of the characters get the don't get the fuck out, which I admit did really annoy me. Other than that this is film I highly recommend to all horror fans should check it because it is worth it.
