Scofield simply is brilliant in this Robert Block adaptation ... heavy but worth it.
Quite pro-Catholic, though not, IIRC, to the point of skewing the story. And let's face it, this is not the Reformation's finest hour.
Beautifully written and scripted by Robert Bolt, beautifully acted by Paul Scofield and others
SO BORING. I watched it for class....but ended up turning it off anyway. I figured bs-ing an essay was better than finishing this.
I think I fell asleep to this movie. It's the same thing as a documentary on sand.
Robert Shaw is so wicked as Henry, you forget He is a genius. But great example of what it takes to be a SAINT.
Some of the best dialog that you will ever hear in a film. Too often, dialoge is not used in movies these days.
Great dialogue and debate. Some Great insights into sacrificing for what you believe in. And the loyaltys of Man.
The Whole culture is pyscodic, with a few men seeing clearly.

Robert Shaw completely cracks me up in this movie. Oo oo and Orson Welles is in here too. A lot of speechifying but some of the best ever committed to the screen.
Superb acting all around. It's a very well-made movie about a man of the law who is caught between the letter of the law and his own conscience. More doesn't set out to be a martyr; he loves life, his family, and his books, but in the end he has to stay true to himself.
