I can't believe it took me nearly 10 years to see this film. Caught it on cable over the weekend. Michael Douglas played the bad guy to a T. Good suspense. It left me wondering where everything was eventually going. Never saw the Hitchcock original but would like to.
The remake of Hitchcock?s ?Dial M for Murder? and a good job of it was made. Some slight variences from the original storyline, but all the important parts were included.
A story with great twists, Douglas plays rich and arrogant very well and we see a not so well known at the time Viggo Mortensen too.
A great thriller, based on love, betrayal, revenge and money.
A truly bad copy of Hitchcock's Dial M for Murder,a theatrical exception at times (few individuals,clinging art direction),Unfaithful by Lyne gives the impression it had its influences from this modern version and yet both seem conservative contrary to the elder one.Only thing is..Unfaithful is somehow original in plot terms.
Excellent drama. Douglas just takes the lead and runs with it. I mean after awhile you like oooh yeah Viggo Mortensen is in here too. Paltrow is okay but i feel someone else would have been better. Thanks Mike.
A pretty freaking awesome movie. I didn't expect much but man, was I in for a treat. Michael Douglas is creepy and old and Gwyneth Paltrow is sympathetic and actually kinda awesome. The best part of the movie, however, was Viggo Mortensen. He's so hot and sexy even though he's fugly. How's that happen? Anyway, awesomely suspenseful movie.
Not a bad thriller if you can accept that Gwyneth and Michael were ever in love. It gets very convoluted in the end. Tries hard, but not match on Hitchcock's version.
A good movie, except for the fact that Gwyneth Paltrow's character comes off clean and she is the biggest liar and cheat out of all of them! Douglas's character had EVERY right to be pissed at her!
What can i say about this one? Its an enjoyable film but not a great one. The soupopera style on some parts is not very appealing for me and aldo it has some good moments of surprise and tension the plot didnt made me bite my nails or jump out of my sit. The cast is regular in here nor to bad or to good. And if this is a remake of Hitchcoks Dial M for Murder all i gotta say is that Ill check it out... what i can almost assurre is that in this case probably will happen what it always does: the originals films are MUCH BETTER than the remakes. oh! and please whoever thought this film is similar to the masterpiece Se7en.. please please dont even try to compare them!!!!
This is a thrilling tale of twists and turns. It's well acted by the 3 leads and I must say it was a great end as far as I was concerned. Don't know if it was as good the second time but see it once for sure.
michael stars in this sexy, stylish and very well made thriller about a filthy rich wall street titan named steven taylor played wonderful with such relish by the great michael douglas. Steven appears to be every woman's dream of a husband, handsome, rich and devoted to his wife what they dont know is that he is very manipulative, treats his wife like some trophy wife instead like a woman and has a jealous streak towards any man who looks at his wife. The amorous Gwyneth paltrow seems like the devoted wife Emily Bradford who seems in the outside to love her hsuband alot but in reality their marriage has become dull and on the brink of a divorce. They were just not meant to be. Steve taylor's career at the moment seems to be fading and going down the tubes and his wife the heiress to a 100 million dollars fortune seems to be getting mroe attention from everybody else than him. When one night on his way back home he catches a glimpse of his wife with another man heis jealousy gets the better of him. One ngiht he quietly follows his wife and her lover back to his place, once she leaves he goes up to the lovers appartment and confronts him. The lover is a con artist he pretends to be an artist drawing a few paintings and has been using his wife because of her money. Steven apporaoches the con man with an offer he couldnb't refuse. If the con man kills his wife he will pay him a million dollars. the con man accepts. The plan is that steven will leave a key to the appartment under the rug. When he leaves thursday night to a poker game, his wife will be home and for the con man to nter the appartment and kill her. But the plan backfire when steven comes home only to find his wife still alive, the police looking curiosly at him and the man dead on his floor noit the con man but someone the con man hired instead. Things get worse when the police chief begins to eye steven and the con man begins to blackmail steven either give him the money or hell send a tape of their conversation about killing his wife to the police. The con man ends up killed and in the end his wife comes to the realization that he husband has been trying to kill her.
Michael douglas has never been this good playing a very greedy, manipulative bastard trying to have his wife killed.
Gwyneth paltrow is wonderful with the material presented to her as emily bradford and great character actor and before the lords of the ring came his way Viggo mortensen is just as cunning and deliciously slimy as the con man who tries to hurt steven and seduce his wife.
Actio director tries something differrent thank his usual action stuff like the fugitive, under siege, above the law and code of silence films and brings a new twist and light to this remake of The 40's alfred hitchcock remake of dial m for murder.
although critics called this film eman spirited i consider it a guilty pleasure.
Love the cast and the characters ..... The suspense in this movie is great also . I thought more action could have been detailed in the movie better. The ending should have been different and more action in the plot. I would recommend this to everyone to watch!!!
Viggo Mortensen is soooo hot in this film! If you love mysteries and suspense, you will love this movie. If you liked Dial M for Murder, you will definitely want to see this one.
I'd have an affair with Viggo too.. Oh wait that's not the point of the movie. Cheating is bad, your spouse will try to kill you when they find out. That's right... My point? Entertaining thriller. :)
Normally remakes are awful but this one is surprisingly good. Michael Douglas really puts out a good performance making his character Steven Taylor seem really creepy and powerful. Overall some very well constructed scenes with brilliant twists, this film is a must see I would defiantly watch it again.
this is a excllent film it is based on the old hitchcock movie dialm m for murder however it takes some twists and turns of its own i enjoyed this film completely. Edgy and gripping.

Michael Douglas is very good as the creepy ice-cold husband and Paltrow and Mortensen do their parts excellently. They turn A Perfect Murder into an exciting and twisted story of love, betrayal and murder.
Kinda creepy if you ask me. I'm definetely not a Gwyneth fan and here she's very meh. Viggo as a villian(ish) I did appreciate. A good perfect crime movie.
