A handful of soldiers are faced with the ultimate temptation, which impacts their ethical standards in different ways in this comedy-drama from Colombia. Perlaza (Carlos Manuel Vesga), Lloreda (Dieg...( read more  read more... )o Cadavid), Venegas (Juan Sebastian Aragon) and Porras (Manuel Jose Chaves) are four G.I.'s in the Colombian Army who are part of a counter-guerilla unit dedicated to ferreting out revolutionaries who've set up camp in the nation's jungles. Porras is married and a dedicated family man, while the others are single and like to party hard when they're not on duty. While cleaning up after they're ambushed by guerillas, one of the soldiers makes a surprising discovery -- several tubs buried in the jungle which hold $40 million in cash, hidden by drug kingpins in cahoots with the guerillas. While Porras predictably maintains they should leave the money alone and tell their commander Lizarazo (Marlon Moreno) about it, the others want to take the fortune for themselves. However, hiding $40 million from Lizarazo proves to be a difficult task, and spending the money without drawing attention to themselves isn't much easier. Directed by Rodrigo Triana, an established name in Colombian television, Sonar No Cuesta Nada (aka A Ton Of Luck) was based on a true story and became a major box-office attraction at home when it opened as its real-life counterparts were on trial.

    Quite easygoing morality tale based on a true story. I can't help but smile everytime I think about those poor soldiers who found all that money. It happened here in my country, precisely in the same province I'm currently living in. They found a stash of millions of dollars that...( read more) belonged to the guerrilla and their life changed, sadly just for a while.
    The characters and story, no matter how deeply flawed they are, are funny and really likeable.

    Una muy buena producciķn COLOMBIANA, que aunque usķ carne fresca (desde la direcciķn hasta el reparto.. y pasando por la banda sonora), volviķ a los clasicos (mis clasicos) del buen cine COLOMBIANO.. nada de paisas que venden rosas, drogas o su cuerpo, nada de historias cotidiana...( read more)s de cualquier barrio de Bogotá sino una historia llevada de manera inteligente y muy graciosa que aun en su forma mas basica lo pone a uno a pensar en el valor de la moral.... eso sono bonito, pero me gusta mas contarles que vi a Vainilla en bola (la fantasia de muuuchos de los que como yo vieron OKIDOKI cuando chinos), una vez mas se comprobo la simbiosis eterna entre Puta-Soldado y Puta-Traicion (sobre todo con dolares), los chistes tipicos COLOMBIANOS que no dejarán nunca de ser graciosos, y un lenguaje natural sin sobrecargo de jerga de ningún tipo (léase paisa) ni de groserias inútiles.... ah otra cosa.... los actores son actores de verdad y no naturales... esos que si se mataron estudiando en academias, ya era hora.

    Interesante la forma como se cuenta la pelicula, soņar no cuesta nada es una pelicula bien hecha con buenos actores.

    This movie is not about ethics or correct behavior, it's about human beings and their natural stupidity when the basics instincts attack by surprise... that makes the film so interesting and worth to see it, so if you got the chance, do it!.
