This is a pretty cool film. If you liked Dune and watch programmes on the Sci Fi channel then you will like and probably have already seen this. I compare it to Dune because it is a bit odd and completely unbelievable. If you like your characters with emotions then stay clear.

The Perfect World Meets The Perfect Assassin

Based on the animated series by Peter Chung, Aeon Flux imagines a future in which 99 percent of the world's population is killed through industrial disease, and the survivors live in a single city that, despite utopian appearan...( read more)ces, is quite totalitarian. Disinclined to embrace any particular ideology outside of a hatred for Trevor Goodchild (Marton Csokas), the leader of the council that governs the walled city, hyper-sexualized assassin Aeon Flux (Charlize Theron) seeks to bring about a revolution. Retaining the title character's trademark jet-black hair and sleek, revealing clothing, this film adaptation fleshes out the story behind the sexual and romantic tension between Aeon and Trevor.

I was overall pleased with this movie it provided entertainment and nice effects. It takes us out of our own time in many ways. The plot is familiar for anyone who has seen Logan's Run or even knows the basic plot, however it is not meant to teach complex lessons. It also has elements that remind me of Minority Report. This movie is predictable at times and has a weak ending. The movie leaves open a few loose ends in the plot and a lot to be desired. This movie had some weak connections to the ideas behind Kill Bill without the excessive violence or mind games.

"I had a family once, I had a life. Now all I have is a mission."

Aeon Flux is really quite dreadful; nothing more than a no-brainer sci-fi live-action flick based on the animated TV series.

First of all, the style and atmosphere are terribly artificial. T

...( read more)here's far too much CGI and digitally expanded sets that detract highly from the overall film value. As a result of this heavy reliance on CGI we can't get engaged in the film at all. The characters are all horribly conceived but executed worse. The actors are all terribly wooden not to mention lifeless and unexciting. And for the final nail in the coffin, the film is so awfully predictable beyond belief!

Aeon Flux is a sci-fi film set 400 years into the future subsequent to 99% of the world's population being wiped out by a virus. The only survivors live in a society with a corrupt government. A group of rebels called 'The Monicans' attempt to overthrow the government and put an end to this corruption of the highest level that has gone on too long. Then when one of their soldiers named Aeon Flux (Theron) is sent to assassinate the chairmen named Trevor Goodchild (Csokas) she discovers a whole new mystery.

The only thing that holds this rubbish together would be the action scenes that are tame but mildly entertaining. There are guns aplenty as well as many characters that do nothing more than showcase their acrobatic skills in front of the camera.

Charlize Theron is an actress I usually admire, but unfortunately here she's emotionless, dull, lifeless and just plain terrible. It would take a long time to mention all the members of the cast I was disappointed with, but I think it goes without saying that even the extras couldn't bring anything good to the table. The direction was very empty, and the atmosphere filled with CGI only made it increasingly hollow. The music didn't add anything more to the movie.

Aeon Flux had the potential to be the decade's The Fifth Element but unfortunately it screwed up every opportunity it had. There is no wonder that it took me so long to finally finish watching this film. It's even more two dimensional than the cartoon! And hence, I kept getting increasingly embarrassed to watch the movie and it continued watching it another day. Boy, I wish I never decided to give this film a shot. My advice, and I suggest you take it: Avoid!

not a bad ending but apart from that the whole basis was visual. there was a slight bit of story which was very similar indeed to children of men. only children of men carries it off a whole lot better. as someone else on here wrote in a review... it's a classic case of all style...( read more) and no substance. as a footnote i haven't seen frances mcdormand in anything for ages

Not a bad flick. Nice visual cinematography. I have never seen the animated version that the movie was based on, but the movie wasn't bad. Not sure if it is a movie that I would purchase, but it was entertaining and worth giving a view on a day that you don't have anything to do.

Predictable and unoriginal. It was entertaining in a no brainer way.
  • October 23, 2009
Normally when you have an adaptation of an animated TV series the film version can be better just because of human actors and emotions. That didn't happen with this mess. This, at best, was a B-movie that Charlize Theron used for a big payday. Abhorrently boring. The original MTV...( read more) show was a 100 times better.

Aeon Flux is best appreciated for the costumes, the sets and Charlize Theron's haughty athleticism.

Folks, I'll never understand studios. Aeon Flux is not that terrible. It's certainly more fun than a lot of films that get lovingly showcased. full review

I liked the concepts in this movie. Any futuristic movie has someone's ideas put to film and it is good to see that there are people 'thinking' in this world. I liked it.

Very boring. I'm pretty sure it was funded by the feminists though. It's just an excuse for flashy special effects, and to see charlize in tight leather.

Mildly interesting, sci fans and anime junkies may feel severly dissapointedby this.
Theron brings class and style to this film and her body is quite easy on the eyes as she fits into the tight elastical costume. watching the film causes you to drift off on a tangent comparing her to the likes of Angelina Jolie, Rebecca Romaine, and Milla Jovoich from similar roles. The question isn't ho does Theron compare, more like is this movie trying to replicate those? My biggest complaint is the story or lack there of, and a failure to emphasize plot turns. This movie just doesn't have enough for fans to connect with and remember.
