Uneven series of dreams of AK, goes downhill quickly after the first section, although old Chishu Ryu makes an appearance for the final segment

Even though I can´t see the connection between the stories... Each one gives you the sensation of dreaming. I specially liked the one of the tunnel and the death soldiers.

Simply Touching and Moving, Must Watch.

The movie consists of eight short stories. Most of which center around the issue of people's relationships with other elements that make up this world that we live in.

This movie made a lasting impression on me when I first saw it as a teenager. A collection of short films - major cool stuff. A few near the beginning are too god damn slow but others are unforgettable and have affected my life.
  • August 16, 2007
    Una gran película, sin duda.
  • August 15, 2007
Not his best, it is still strangely evocative and compelling to watch. The most disturbing vignette has a soldier coming face to face with the souls of his lost platoon, while the most blissful concerns a visit to a peaceful, Japanese waterwheel village.

This is my favorite movie of all time.

I love the setup of the film with several small stories. Everything has that unreal yet vivid feeling of a dream.

I would argue that Kurosawa saved the best for last. My favorite of his movies, which is saying a lot when you consider all of his masterpieces.

Beautiful, required viewing for all people interested in life, art, and Vincent Van Gogh.
  • June 27, 2007

  • June 12, 2007
May not be Kurosawa's best, but most of these stories are unforgettable. A boy staring at a single peach blossom, the demon at my side, the tunnel, van gogh, the village of windmills,.. I love this flick.

  • May 29, 2007
absolutely gorgeous journey through colour and through the human spirit. requires patience to watch, as kurosawa's pacing is very slow and deliberate. a masterpiece in choreography, colour, theme and love of filmmaking.
  • May 24, 2007
Oh I definitely want to see this. Kurosawa is credited for helping inspire Star Wars and just about every action movie since the 1960s.
  • May 23, 2007
watching this movie late at night is very comforting for me.
