The tale unfolds as they further look into the S.O.S. distress call from that battered commercial space vessel--only to discover that it's a warning call, rather than a call for help. However, it is too late to turn back as three members of the crew have already left to investigate the derelict ship. Far away in space and time, all five encounter an awesome galactic horror, that begins to kill the crew members one by one.

    Not as cool as the second in my opinion but chilling and eerie. So well made, the look is so realistic you can almost smell the sweat and fear. Awesome effects, just the ultimate space monster film. Perfect cast, I just prefer the second because of the action, but this is still a...( read more)mazing.

    Alien is my favourite sci-fi/horror movie. Like the Terminator, I enjoyed this better than the sequel mainly because it was less than a huge blockbuster, it was a quiet intense horror with disgusting special effects and caustrophobic surroundings. The idea of a man being literall...( read more)y pregnant with an alien is enough to make someone vomit. I would rate this as the third greatest horror movie ever made (behind Psycho & The Exorcist) Its none short of a classic film and a must for all horror fans

    Alien is a near flaw...( read more)less film. For the seemingly simplistic narrative about an Alien monster rampaging a commercial space ship, Ridley's haunting, eerie masterpiece conveys the horrors of being pitted against a superior foe in a place where, as the tag line says, "No one can hear you scream." First of all, Ridley's film-making ability is beyond perfection. No matter how much time passes, no matter how apparent it is that the Alien is just a guy in a costume, Ridley's amazing skill as a film-maker and his meticulous attention to detail will make it withstand the test of time. The cinematography is dark, lush and captures a feeling of fear and dread. The editing plays out like a roller coaster. The film starts off slow, almost painfully slow to some. Long strecthes of time pass as the camera crawls along the spaceship, showing us the ins and outs of what will ultimately become a horrific battle ground. This type of pacing gives the film a sort of emotional foreshadowing, showing us the endless ongoing nature of space travel before they must endure fighting the creature for the same duration.

    Performances from the cast are stellar. But it's Dan O'Bannon's screenplay that gives the characters their appeal. There's nothing particularly deep, subtle or even quirky about them. They're realistic, fleshed out and grounded in reality. Their conversations flow so well you would never think it's movie characters getting ripped apart by the alien, but a friend or neighbor.

    Simply put, a brilliant film from Ridley Scott.

    Will watch again as a saga in memory of Dan O'bannon, well known for his efforts in sc-ifi cinima. Plus they repeated the great second installment the other other on t.v. after all is time,maybee there's somthing in the 'WORKS' next to avatar it would want To be good

    Un très bon film, à la fois terrifiant et simple dans son exécution. Bien sûr, l'alien n'est pas toujours très bien fait, mais le film date de 1979, et le vaisseau est d'une beauté incroyable! Les acteurs sont crédibles et le scénario intéressant. Je n'ai qu'n regret; comme pour ...( read more)Blade Runner, il manque un petit quelque chose qui relierait toutes ces super scènes entre elles pour faire un film excellentissime, quelque chose sans doute dans le montage final.
