A bit more difficult than most movies to watch cause its OLD. Incredible movie though, really showed the reality of WWI.

One of the oldest Great War Movies. It's messege of how governments try to manipulate the reality of war to show it as glorious will always ring true.
Good film and well representing of the war, but i feel almost blasphemous for saying that i take off points for the dated, tired feel. There is also a lack of any soundtrack, which I think could have improved the atmosphere. The ending is brilliantly classic.
Brooding movie, too long, but a stinging indictment of war non the less
Showing the horrors of war so well. I found out many years after reading the book that the military brass hated the Christmas truce of 1914. They had to force the soldiers to fight again after they had crossed battle lines on that day.
This anti-war poem is as beautiful today as it was in 1930. From life in a trench that's constantly being bombed to a soldier returning home and being branded a coward for speaking out against war, this truly captures the horrors that, although I have never witnessed it, soldiers...( read more)
Undoubtedly the best film I've ever seen. Nearly perfect in all areas, impactful on the heart and mind, and considerably accurate and believeable.
i'm totally going to see this ww1 movie now
i had to read the book for engl class and i actually enjoyed it...
prepared to be depressed with the thoughts all of hte bloodshed of war...
damn son. why didnt anybody see this movie when it could have made a difference. such a great story. remarkably filmed. heartbreaking.
The book was great however I thought the movie didnt do as well. There was some good action scences and whatnot. It doesnt live up to the book.
the original war drama whose influences have gone further than any other, truly powerful performances with a powerful message that remains faithful to the novel, milestone adds technical innovation as well
Acting: down-to-earth
Visuals: realistic
Screenplay: masterful
Best role by: Lew Ayres
Very good and very important early film. Worth seeing once, and a must see for film history buffs.
I had to watch this one in AP Euro. I didn't like it. I don't like war movies.
okay this is goin on my wanna see list deffo. i'm really interested in WW1 & 2 so i'd like to see what a movie made only a decade after the war actualy ended is like.
Excellent movie. All Quiet on the Western Front is my all-time favorite book and I thought that this movie did the book justice. Lew Ayres is excellent in this.
Great movie. Only thing I didn't like about it is that it's black and white.
I think this is the one we watched in history class... a good book, and a good movie.
A very good film. It is amazing that this film was made when it was because it is both anti-war and told from the other side.
S'ight. watchedit in history class. I didn't think it should be on the top 100 list but it wasn't boring
My only World War 1 film that I can recal, and a very good one at that.
Considering it was released in 1930, this is a classic piece of filmmaking even today. Very brave to be created so soon after WW1, and at a time of heavy censorship in films, this film, essentially created what we call a "War Film"
A touching story about how War destorys lives, ...( read more)
I can't believe that any modern re-make would ever be able to bring the book to life as this one does. The lack of CGI makes (almost) everything look very realistic. A modern-day remake would probably not have the same earnestness and proximity to the subject matter - after WWI...( read more)
One of the best endings to a movie... EVER! That's pretty much all I remember about it...
