War as cruel as it is!
okay this is goin on my wanna see list deffo. i'm really interested in WW1 & 2 so i'd like to see what a movie made only a decade after the war actualy ended is like.
Excellent movie. All Quiet on the Western Front is my all-time favorite book and I thought that this movie did the book justice. Lew Ayres is excellent in this.
Great movie. Only thing I didn't like about it is that it's black and white.
I think this is the one we watched in history class... a good book, and a good movie.
A very good film. It is amazing that this film was made when it was because it is both anti-war and told from the other side.
S'ight. watchedit in history class. I didn't think it should be on the top 100 list but it wasn't boring
My only World War 1 film that I can recal, and a very good one at that.
Considering it was released in 1930, this is a classic piece of filmmaking even today. Very brave to be created so soon after WW1, and at a time of heavy censorship in films, this film, essentially created what we call a "War Film"
A touching story about how War destorys lives, ...( read more)
I can't believe that any modern re-make would ever be able to bring the book to life as this one does. The lack of CGI makes (almost) everything look very realistic. A modern-day remake would probably not have the same earnestness and proximity to the subject matter - after WWI...( read more)
One of the best endings to a movie... EVER! That's pretty much all I remember about it...
excellent movie. Pretty rare you can get a good book-movie adaptation like this
Not sure about the movie, but the book was incredibly boring. and it jumped all over the place, it was hard to follow.
Saw this one in a worhtless history class my sophmore yearh in high school. The ending annoyed me....
I'm probably the only person who actually liked this movie when we watched it in school.
oh my gosh i did a book report on this and i didn't know there was a movie!! i did it on spark notes!
Zip.ca rental, part of my quest to see every movie that made AFI's Top 100 films of all time.
It was pretty well shot (the battle scenes, anyways), way better than I was expecting.
However, the OTHER scenes, were fairly static and boring. My main issue is that I had such ...( read more)
I read the book after I saw the movie, and the book is better. More detail to break your heart and make you understand.
I saw this movie in my History On Film class and this movie captivated me and i really enjoyed it.
We watched this in History Class. VERY VERY sad at the end, but a very good film overall. I really like Paul.
Superb quality shown from the other side and how even the "enemy" felt about the war.
This movie was really sad, but unfortunatley things like that happened, and will happen.
