Female martial-arts films weren't as popular in 1984 as they are today, perhaps because so few good ones were being made. Alley Cat is no Oscar winner, but it is several notches above the norm. Karin Mani is left for dead when attacked by a vicious street gang. She gets mad and she gets even by taking up the study of chopsocky self-defense. You know where this is going from the outset, but it's still plenty exciting.
