    I watched this movie this afternoon and although the humour wasn't particularly suited to my tastes it certainly made my 9 year old niece laugh (aswell as the other kids in the audience).

    In comparison to the first movie I certainly wouldn't say it was better, it was, however......( read more) almost as good. Animaton was spot on, humour was good (not too over done), music choice, like in the first movie was excellent.

    If you want to put a smile on your kids face this Christmas then you could do a lot worse than Alvin & The Chipmunks.

    It's worth remembering when commenting on this type of movie that it's a kids film, targeted at an immature audience.

    I give it 3/5 stars and my niece 5/5

    First of all, this is not a movie that any self respecting adult sees if they aren't accompanied by children. You don't go to a movie like this expecting high art. There's a reason the humor in a movie like this is juevenillle. Because when you are a kid, fart jokes are funny. So...( read more) if you allow yourself to regress to that level, you will easily be able to enjoy the movie. In this follow up to the monster hit of 2007, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore attend school, meet a group of girl chipmunks, and cover hit songs of the last few years. That's pretty much it. The "plot" just serves as thread to string together a series of jokes, pratfalls, and mischief. But for kids, it's great. And like i said, if you can allow yourself to enjoy it on their level, you'll get a few really good laughs along the way.
