(2007 Director: Ridley Scott) One of Denzel Washington's best performances......Almost missed this one...but that would have been a waste...liked this like I liked "16 Blocks" (Bruce Willis). Only Russell Crowe plays the down-on-his-luck cop with a "hunch."

Based on a true story (or so people are saying) Great cast. Who WASN'T in THIS movie? I might take notice of that if in charge of the next casting call!!

Even Armando Assante starred a key role as a mob boss. Great performances.

Kind of the story of ruin of a good man (Denzel Washington) raised with mob influences in the ghetto who succombed to profit at what cost?

Every criminal has their heyday and what a heyday he had!

Saw it, loved it! My opinion....better than Scareface. Only because he wasn't stupid enough to try his own merchandise. Bad thing was that family betrayed him. Hope that doesn't ruin it for those who haven't seen it yet. I give it 2 thumbs & 2 big toes UP!!!

I enjoyed the film but found myself disturbed by the fact that he helped destroy or negatively alter the lives of thirty of his family members. I know that it was important to have people he could trust close to him but to go and recruit his brothers and others to step into roles it took him years to learn and manuever was crazy- he was lucky nobody got killed. It was sad , they were down south minding their own business living simple lives.

Exciting account of heroin trading and police corruption during the late Vietnam years. Based on real life events, the story focuses on both drug king pin, Frank Lucas, (Denzel Washington) and his rise to power as well as New Jersey detective, Ritchie Roberts (Russell Crowe) and his efforts to uncover those involved in New York's drug trade. Director Ridley Scott has helped create a gritty 1970's thriller that pays tribute to gangster films like Black Caesar and The Godfather but with a new twist where honesty, conscientiousness and dedication to due process ultimately prevail. Dazzling acting by Crowe and Washington together with near perfect directing from Scott make this one of the best organized crime thrillers to come around in a quite awhile.
