American Visions - Streamlines and Breadlines
This sixth entry in the American Visions series about art history highlights the brilliance of art painted against the bleak backdrop of Depression and unemployment. Appropriately titled Streamlines and Breadlines, this 60-minute PBS journey takes the viewer into the poverty-soaked world of just-landed immigrants and jaded Americans. Many featured works, like the 1942 Nighthawks painting by notable artist Edward Hopper, define the times with their stark symbolism. ~ C. Dwayne Smith, Rovi
