Kiki Harrison is the devoted personal assistant to beautiful, narcissistic megastar Gwen Harrison. She also happens to be Gwen's sister. Life with her famous sister has never been easy for the awkward...( read more  read more... ) and self-conscious Kiki, but it's about to get even harder since she's agreed to help Gwen and her estranged actor husband Eddie Thomas reunite for one last public appearance to promote their latest movie. Veteran press agent Lee Phillips, on the brink of being replaced by his younger protege, is put in charge of masterminding this highly anticipated event. With Kiki as his secret weapon, Lee just might make this weekend go off without a hitch. Would've helped by ditching Roberts. (But I can say that about any movie she's in.)

Pretty cute movie. Lots of good actors in it. Not my favorite Julia Roberts movie, but it wasn't bad.

American's hottest couple aren't too hot about each other. Good cast.

The masters of the romantic comedy return to remind us all why they hold the title. I liked this more than I logically should have, since I hate Julia Roberts, but Everyone else in this did really really well. It's like the Ocean's Eleven of the romantic comedy- more enjoyable an...( read more)d less saccharine than you would think. The jokes throw you not only with thier own humour, but the mere fact that here IS genuine humour in a Roberts vehicle. I guess I'm too used to being disappointed by similar fare. This is was really not too bad.

It's about as good as you're going to get with the typical romantic comedy formula. It has a great cast that work well off each other, but it is extremely predictable and cliched. Still, it's worth a watch. Fluff isn't always bad to watch, it can get you optimistic if nothing else.

Funny film about the stupidity of publicity.

Very good movie. Julia Roberts is adorable as always and John Cusack and Billy Crystal have very good performances. I'm a huge John Cusack fan! <3 :) Just great!

4 of 5 stars for the star-packed comedy America's Sweethears. What a cast of stars: Zeta-Jones, Roberts, Crystal, Arkin, Walken, Cusack. Mostly filmed on location at the Hyatt Lake Las Vegas, this comedy is about two movie stars who were a couple making their last big film. The f...( read more)ocus of the movie is the launch of the new film and the benefits ($$) of the two (Cusack & Zeta-Jones) getting back together as America's Sweethearts. To complicate matters ZJ is now dating a stud (Azaria) and Cusack is in love with ZJ's sister (Julia Roberts). Throw in a crazy nutcase movie director (Walken), some slimy PR guys (Arkin, Crystal) and you have funny situations. Well written, well produced and great acting combined for a fun movie. I do recommend this movie!

America's Sweethearts is a balloon, all right -- a lead one. full review

The movie is a polished muddle, fitfully amusing but with no spine. full review

Moira MacDonald, Seattle Times

It's a perfectly fine setup for romantic-comedy capering, with enough good one-liners to satisfy. But Roth seems a bit at sea with his powerhouse cast. full review

Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

America's Sweethearts recycles Singin' in the Rain but lacks the sassy genius of that 1952 musical. full review

A.O. Scott, The New York Times

Like a bottle of lukewarm Champagne -- an expensive one, judging by the label -- America's Sweethearts opens with a promising burst of effervescence and quickly goes flat. full review

A mildly amusing mess. full review

Occasionally funny and amusing, but also an irritating mess.

Hank Azaria's attempt at a Spanish accent was awful, but the film itself was ok enough.
