10 strangers arrive on an island, each persuaded to come under false pretenses and each guilty of a horrific crime. One by one they start to die, victims of an elaborate plot to right past wrongs. The question is: who's doing the killing?

Terrific little murder mystery that bl...( read more)ends intrigue, suspense and humor to deliver an hour and a half of blissful skulduggery.

I read the book, and the movie was great! It was done very closely with the book.

I've read quite a few Agatha Christie books and, for all its ingenuity, "And Then There Were None" is one of the silliest. It's a good, fun read but the outrageous plot completely falls apart under even the mildest scrutiny. For example, you'd think that pulling off ten [sic] mur...( read more)ders without getting caught would be a thorny enough problem for a homicidal maniac, without the added artistic flourishes of referencing a nursery rhyme and removing/destroying symbolic figurines! The longer the story goes on, the dafter it gets, because the simple fact is you cannot shepherd intelligent people to their doom quite so easily; heaven knows, I've tried! Only kidding! Anyway, for the most part, René Clair's film wisely opts to play for laughs. The performances are a bit hammy at times, but delightfully so. The ending, which is based on Christie's own 1942 stage adaptation, will seem radically different to those familiar with the novel. As a product of Clair's tenure as an exile in the US, I much prefer "I Married a Witch", with Veronica Lake.

An Agatha Christie murder mystery classic! This is my favorite version of this story; most like the book. The characters all seem to match those of the book. The murders are tamely shown onscreen. The ending where the solution is revealed, is clearly explained. It's such a good s...( read more)tory of 10 people on a deserted island mansion, being killed off one by one. It may have inspired the Clue boardgame...

Classic whodunit. Don;t let the fact that it is old and in black and white fool you. This film is a very fun and entertaining take on mystery writer, Agatha Christie's novel, "Ten Little Indians."

Agatha Christie's classic mystery is reimagined stylishly under the deft hand of director René Clair. The result is a damn good suspense film laced with impeccable dark comedy. The cast is superb, and there are also some interesting camera angles and framing to be found here.

Good telling of the Agatha Christie story with an insane casting decision making Barry Fitzgerald the bad guy. Runs out of steam at the end and fails to solidify any killer motive, but it is 1945.

One of Agatha's more interesting murder mysteries. 10 strangers are invited to an island by a mysterious unseen host who kills them off one by one. The plot is similar to The Invitation (2001) in which the characters are eliminated punitively for past crimes. It's a much used p...( read more)lot, but, effectively treated. Well produced, nicely filmed with a keeper of a final line of dialogue.

Agatha Christie story...a great "Who Done It?"...

    U.N. Owen...Unknown!

Classic B&W film...great suspense and film noir style...

They totally messed up the characters' names and the plot, but it was still enjoyable. All of the actors were spot on, but if Rene Clair actually followed the plot line, it would've been SO much better.

I'm currently reading the book in English class. I really enjoy it! It would be great if this movie would come out in a more modern form. I would cast Zooey Deschanel or Reese Witherspoon as Vera Claythorne. Alan Rickman would be Dr. Armstrong. I haven't thought it through, yet, and I won't become a movie or casting director ever. It's just a thought.
