Along with MST 3K, Mr. Show, and a few select others, this semi-obscure documentary is one of the touchstones of what I find funny. Many may find absolutely nothing funny about this. But me? Comedic gold.
Not a bad documentary, but it fails to fully explain the "scripted" nature of Professional Wrestling, which would totally put into context Andy Kaufman's forays into the business. Most of the interviews with his friends outside of wrestling honestly thought what was going on was 100% real, hence their testimony is coloured somewhat.
If you're a mark (a 100% believer), as most people were during this period, then you will think that Kaufman was totally insane to get involved with the business. However, if you know the workings of Pro-Wrestling, then you would realise that Kaufman knew exactly what he was doing, and was damn good at it.
Make no mistake, Andy Kaufman was born to be involved in the wrestling business, and I can only imagine what kind of stuff he could have done if he was alive today.
The DVD is particularly good for it's inclusion of the short film, "My Breakfast With Blassie", a parody of "My Dinner With Andre", featuring Kaufman and wrestling legend "Classie" Freddy Blassie.
