Nice movie! Not a lot of action but a tender love story. I didn't know of Gail Russell. She was quite beautiful! John Wayne is about the youngest i've ever seen him in this one.
Very entertaining old-fashioned western. The chemistry between John Wayne and Gail Russell is electric. I love stories with a moral and a message and this one delivers without being sermonic. Real men pray. Amen and pass the popcorn!
I don't remember a lot of this film, since it's been a while from my last viewing of it, and I should probably refresh my memory, but from what I recall, it's worth a watch.
How can you go wrong with a movie featuring the great Harry Carey as a philosophical lawman named Wistful McClintock? Well sir (or ma'am), you can't, and this first production from John Wayne's personal unit at Republic is simply one of the loveliest...
john wayne playing the gunslinger who tries to hang up his guns for a simple way of life as a farmer when he meets the gorgeous gail russell and her quaker family. mr wayne or the duke as he's otherwise known does well in this. i enjoyed it more than some of his others. there was some good humour in it and gail russell was just top totty
One of my favorite John Wayne movies. It's one of his earlier ones (so he's kinda hot) and you can see the chemistry between him and Gail Russell (probably cause they were having an affair at the time, but that's beyond the point). Go see it.
Sorry, I'm just not into John Wayne and there are so many other movies out there that I still haven't seen (somehow they slipped through my fingers), and I just don't want to watch someone I'm not overly thrilled with made in 1947. So, shoot me!
John Wayne is great in this. He shows his softer side. After getting injured, a Quaker family takes him in to help him recover. The daughter in the family begins to fall for him. He also begins to fall for her. He goes to their Quaker meetings and respects their rules. Of course there is a gun fight at the end. There is something here for men and women. Great movie. I highly recommend this.
