I wanted to like it, I really did!!!! I worship Vivien Leigh, but it was basically watching Scarlett O'Hara in Russia. Oh, and no Rhett Butler.

Considering the movie technology that time had i would have to say that Anna Karenina was a poorly made movie. The movie didn't catch any of the dark scandelous atmosphere the book brought and it was a big disapointment. The only good thing about the whole movie was Vivien Leigh'...( read more)

leigh's anna has gotten some hard knocks because of garbo's double success with the role. her anna is different and this film is a sumptuous setting for it.

An excellent film about a woman in a marriage she feels isolated and unloved within and the tragedy of living with her beauty which causes torment and pain to her and others. Realistically portrayed, Vivien Leigh acts her scenes DELICIOUSLY well. I nearly balled! :)

September 20, 2006I adore this film, it made me read the book by 'Leo Tolstoy' and that is wonderful too.
However the actor (Kieron i think) who plays Vronsky is awful ~~~ he just makes you wonder why Anna likes him.
Terrible sad at the end also.
I've got to say i adore the filming, the sno covered trains look absolutely beautiful!
