I don't care what anyone thinks of me, I do and will always get fuzzy happy feelings when I watch this movie. It's a "kindred spirit" in a world that seems to forget what true intimacy, whether it be between lovers, friends, or family, really is. I will be watching this and showing it to my children's children for a long time.
Megan Follows IS Anne Shirley in this version of the beloved movie. Never have I seen someone embody their character so flawlessly. She truly brought the book to life!
WOW was I surprised to actually like this one. .Its about a orphan girl who is accidentally sent to a brother and sister who was looking for a boy. The woman is very strict and formal toward the girl and at first rejects her but ends up falling for her charm and honesty. Its sorta like a little house on the prairie type movie.
A farmer (Colleen Dewhurst) wants to adopt a boy---but instead receive a girl named Anne Shirley (Megan Follows). Anne Shirley meets her dear friend named Diana Barry (Schuyler Grants) & her sworn rivalry named Gilbert Blythe (Jonathan Crombie).
I watched this a lot when I was a kid. Had almost every scene memorized. Now that I'm older (A LOT older if you ask Micah!) I find myself occasionally drifting to a few of those old scenes and falling in love with the movie all over again.
Oh I love LOve this, I use to watch it on channel 12 and haven't been able to find it on dvd. A story about an orphin who is taken in by this family who gets her through school.
Ohh my gosh. I LOVE Anne of Green Gables. I related to her character so much -- highly intelligent yet highly quirky, often misunderstood, & in a dream world. Also not letting her "true" affections show for Mr. Gilbert Blithe.
I love Anne of Green Gables.. she is so awesome... nothing like you would expect from a girl from this time and place. She was adopted by an old couple who was expecting a boy to come but they end up likeing the fact that they got her instead.
I love the part where she breaks the slate over Gilbert's head! And when she dies her hair green! And when. . . Anne's escapades are endless! These movies are so cute.
These movies are so stunningly rapturous. They bring one back to another time and place, and really make you become emotionally involved with Anne and the people she meets. Surprisingly charming and enjoyable.
Saw this for the first time in Junior High, on the last days of school. The Home Ec teacher showed it because we'd finished all our other projects. Loved it ever since.
An orphan that gets adopted by an older brother and sister. They want a boy to help with the farm but Matthew has a soft spot for Anne and so she stays and has adventures.
Very Shmoopie. I love these two films. I guess I should invest in them finally. I could watch them over and over again. I'd also like to see the Series Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story.
I love this series and own them all!!! Megan Follows is wonderful as Anne and joined with an amazing cast of characters this series keeps you hooked to the very end with tears, laughter and cheers. You grow to love Anne as you follow her adventures at Green Gables along with her bestfriend Diana and another teen chum Gilbert whom she eventually grows to love they get into all kinds of fun situation you just enjoy! Be sure to catch Anne of Avonlea and Anne the Continuing Story for more fun and adventure.
This is the first part of the Anne of Green Gables movie trilogy, and the best in my opinion. It follows the book, not to the letter, but it's very entertaining and timeless. And what girl hasn't had a crush on Gilbert at some point?
