I much prefer the Megan Follow's adaptation of Anne, she just has so much more spunk and imagination and charm that she just is Anne to me. I also prefer the fact that certain parts of the book are not changed for no good reason (for example Rachel Lind as Diana's mother in this ...( read more)version...why?) plus no one is ever going to play Gilbert the way Jonathan Crombie does, he is the perfect choice with his dark good looks and stunning smile and quiet, easy manner when he plays Gil. But that said I love all thing Anne that are done with care and love, and which try to bring the lovable red headed orphan to life as best they can, and this film does try. So although it may have its faults and might not be the best adaptation ever made I would still recommend real Anne fans to watch it, because after all it is still the lovable story of mishaps and misbehaviour, not to mention the same beautiful love story between Anne and Gil (With her smashing the slate over his head along the way)
