Very preachy for a kid movie. There's some elements that are fun and exciting, but it's a little overdone and underwhelming.

The master of A Bug's life!
    Sly, Woody A., Sharon S., C. Walken, D. Glover, D. Akroyd, J-Lo, G. Hackman...
Probably the most amazing cast for a animation! And it was 13 years ago, at the beginning of the all-stars casts for the cartoons.

Yeehee. I always loved Sylvester Stallone's character - Mr everso Tough and then he hangs out with a little tiny, no muscle worker. It's a cute story and just for some cool facts - Did you know an Ant can pick up ten times it's own weight. That's amazing. Insects are probably the most amazing things.

"Yes I know. I dropped the ball".

Ha! I love this. It's just plain adorable with a cute story and a nice ending. Nothing like an underdog movie

Pg is correct. The young definitely need Parental Guidance while watching it. But still, it was cool.

OK, so the Ants look a little more like ants than the ants in A Bug's Life. They're brown, not blue, and they have the right number of legs. But they aren't as charming, alas. Antz wasn't as witty or charming as A Bug's Life but you can't miss Woody Allen playing an ant. (I could have lived without Sly Stallone playing an ant though. I can't say that he is the best voice actor of all time. Michael Clarke Duncan would have been better.)

Such a metaphorical film for many issues. Woody Allen was a great choice for the main character here, a great film to teach the kids about individuality.

I really enjoyed "Antz" more than "A Bug's Life". The story, acting and visuals were much better in this movie by far.

The computer graphics are simply marvelous. The details of the surroundings and the insects are amazing. The animators went as far as creating reflections and other small details that, to me, made the world of the insects very believable, unlike the cartoonish look of "A Bug's Life".

Woody Allen was perfectly cast for the role of "Z". This is probably his best movie since his 1983 movie "Zelig". I also believe that Sharon Stone, Sylvester Stallone and especially Gene Hackman were cast perfectly.

Each actor brought their characters to life. Every one of them got the viewer(s) to care, or detest, their character. The dialog was well written and all the actors delivered their lines perfectly. None of them appeared to just recite them from memory.

There are some violent scenes and some fairly, but not too severe, language. I would not recommend this movie for very young children. I would say they should see "A Bug's Life," which is targeted to the very young audience more than "Antz" is.

Overall, this movie is fun, enjoyable entertainment that can be watched again and again. "Antz" is far superior to "A Bug's Life".

I can see why this film didn't do as well as 'a bug's life'. It has more of an adult theme to it which is probably why I enjoy it. You only have to see the long list of actors giving their voices to characters to see it's going to be fun.

A stellar cast lends their voices to a story about an ant who lives under a mound in Centrsal Park, New York. Unfortunately, Woody Allen is in it, which is enough reason not to like it. Also, it's kinda boring. Also, it was one of two ant themed movies that year. (A Bug's Life is better).

My Favorite DreamWorks Animated Movie! It's Really Awsome! One Of The Greatest Animated Movies Ever Made! Great Story...Graet Acting...And Outstanding Effects! Though I Do Have To Say ''A Bug's Life'' Wasn't That Bad Ether.

Antz wasn't as good as Toy Story or some of the other high-end Disney films but it was pretty good for what it was. I found Antz to be quite exciting and funny.

Although only coming out a month prior to A Bug's life, I don't think it took anything away from the flim, but in fact helped it and itself by demonstrating how many dramatic and comedic possibilities can be found in an anthill...
Although this film in itself deals with slightly more complex themes, including conformity and war, and its imagery is less colorful and more realistic; for example, the ants' coloration is orange-brown rather than bright blue and the ants in Antz have six extremities (four legs and two arms) rather than the more human-like four. The film shows the transition of the colony from a dictatorship to a democracy. General Mandible's plan to "rinse away all the filth from our gutters" (the colony) is reminiscent of Adolf Hitler's "Final Solution."...
"Antz" has a more sophisticated sensibility and could play for adults attending by themselves...

General Mandible: You're an ant after my own heart, an ant who looks death in the face and laughs.
Z: Actually, I generally just make belittling comments and snicker behind death's back.

An enjoyable animated comedy, made better by the more adult sense of humor that it brings to the table. It combines rich animation and great music into a world of talking ants. The best part is the voice talent and clever writing that runs throughout this film.

The story starts off as a Woody Allen film. Z, who is in fact voiced by Allen, is an insecure/nervous ant living in a colony, performing a monotonous job of moving dirt around.

All of that changes when Z meets Princess Bala, voiced by Sharon Stone, and he gets the chance to show off some more individualism. Things change even more when Z switches places with his best friend, voiced by Sylvester Stallone, to pose as a soldier ant and hopefully see Bala again.

After being the only survivor in a suicide mission launched by the treacherous General Mandible, voiced by Gene Hackman, Z gets himself into a predicament leading to he and Bala's exit from the colony, where they become involved with each other and witness life beyond the colony.

The whole movie contains various themes involving social change and individualism, as well as the kind of Woody Allen humor that makes his movies work. Then, as mentioned the whole thing is filled with witty dialog and well done animation.

There is also a superb voice cast that also stars: Jennifer Lopez, Christopher Walken, Dan Aykryod, Danny Glover, and Anne Bancroft.

Its a quick watch with a good story and a lot of clever humor. making it very enjoyable.

Weaver: Don't you want your aphid beer?
Z: Call me crazy, but I have a thing about drinking from the anus of another creature.

Saw this years ago and seen it several times since - never did it for me. I'm more of a Bug's Life person and don't see what all the fuss is about Antz.
