At the 50-yard line of this gridiron cosmos is Tony D'Amato, tthe embattled Sharks coach facing a full-on blitz of team strife plus a new, marketing-savvy Sharks owner who's sure Tony is way too Old School.

An injured quarterback, a flashy, bull-headed QB, a slithery team docto...( read more)r and a running back with an incentive-laden contract also provide some of the stories that zigzag like diagrams in a playbook.

Not being a fan of American Football ..I wasn't sure what to expect, however with the cast involved I thought I'd give it a go..Tony D'Amato (Al Pacino) struggles to keep his job and to keep his team of athletes from falling apart.. dont waste a great opportunity thats the messag...( read more)e...The movie is brutal and direct to the point it had me captivated from beginning to end..if you're obsessive about sport then it's a must-watch.

no se de que se trata ni nada, pero eso de que pongan 6 cabezas y tres esten en azul (asi como de fondo) me hace pensar que la calificacion es 3/6

This movie sucks. The background noise is too loud. You can barely hear the actors speak. It doesn't really matter since the dialog is all clichés. The football uniforms are ugly and they don't even follow the rules of football. Everyone knows that one team wears light jerseys an...( read more)d the other team wears dark ones. In this movie all the teams wear dark ones. In the final game of the movie one team doesn't even have numbers on the front of their jerseys. They talk about all the problems with modern professional sports but the characters in the movie are all caricatures so you don't really care about what they are saying. After all that the movie is too long and has a very simple plot. A professional sports team is on a four game losing streak when their veteran quarterback is injured and replaced by a third string quarterback who starts winning and gets the team into the playoffs. In the mean time every problem that has ever faced a real life football team is experienced by this fictional team and they still make it to the playoffs? I also didn't need to see a nude locker room scene. That's why it's rated R.

  • August 23, 2009
Great movie. I think Any Given Sunday is a great insight to sport in general. The performances are all great, and some of the game scenes were spectacular.
  • August 15, 2009
Good Pacino/football flick. He was believable as a coach.
  • August 9, 2009
I have actually yet to watch this one.

All-star cast makes this a must-see for any football fan!
  • July 30, 2009
Gripping and visually exciting sports drama which, being an Oliver Stone pic, doesn't let up the pace at all, between the performances from Pacino et al, to the frenetic editing and the rap beats

A great, compelling story with an all-star cast. Well written, though they a horrible job editing it (plenty of continuity errors).
  • July 15, 2009
This is a good football film. Shows the stories between coaches, players, management and the media. The film has such a great cast starring Al Pacino, Cameron Diaz, Dennis Quaid, Jamie Fox and James Woods. The story is fresh and entertaining compared to other football films. Pretty brutal for a Sports film! Gosh! I was blown away by how ferocious it was! I don't think I want to see it again, but I did enjoy it.
  • June 18, 2009
Maybe the best portrayal of in-game action I have seen, but everything else falls flat.
  • June 14, 2009
So Cameron Diaz drops this low on the list but Al Pacino keeps it on. Besides which some of the best story telling I have seen. Even if it is about over paid jocks getting a clue.
  • June 14, 2009
The only thing I remember from this movie was the part with the eye. So I will have to check it out again now that I am older.
  • June 12, 2009
A great and powerful look at pro football.
  • June 9, 2009
Stone brings his frenetic, over-the-top directorial style and unique sensibilities to this complex film which is about much more than football. There are no clear-cut heroes or villains, as all of the main characters manage to arouse disgust in the viewer at one point or another...( read more). Pacino's "Inches" speech is a highlight and one of the finest examples of inspirational speech making in the genre. A worthy (albeit very long) addition to the football movie pantheon.

Any Given Sunday is one of Oliver Stone's most enjoyable movies. Sunday is pure entertainment, an action-packed spectacle that will delight even the most ardent sports enthusiast. Stone draws on the usual assortment of sports movie clichés, but he directs his actors, including Al...( read more) Pacino, Jamie Foxx, Dennis Quaid, and LL Cool J, into such passionate and intense performances, that the movie is able to transcend its familiar material. While its 160-minute running time is a bit of a detriment, AGS works overall as a superior piece of escapist entertainment. Also, the locker room scene, which showcases a confrontation between Cameron Diaz and a football player with a giant penis, is a classic.
  • March 28, 2009
Such a uniquely done sports movie. Jamie Foxx and Cameron fit their parts well
  • March 24, 2009
Cool Pacino flick. I expected to see more of him but with an all-star cast like that, I was suprised he was visible in the movie.

Any Given Sunday you will find me with the TV off, playing D&D. So I'm probably not this movie's target audience.

"Given that there's so many varied characters and stories going on within this movie's three hour tour, you'd think someone would suck relative to his or her peers. This is an interesting look into the world of pro football. While the movie might have more misses than hits, I like that Stone went about directing this movie as if it was a war film instead of just a football story. Although the usual sport movies cliches are there and there ...( read more)is quite a bit of overacting (I give Pacino a pass tho since he always does that, lol), it is not an completely bad movie and has some redeemable qualities. Its good to finally see a sports movie that seems more like a war film or gangster film than the usual inspirational sports figure/team.
