Simple brilliant Anime, across the board. Incredible eye-popping animation with a great HARD sci-fi story that most American audiences will never be able to comprehend on their diet of silly garbage. I didnt LOVE the music score...but the good things more than made up for it.
Although Appleseed has some of the best animation I've ever seen in a motion picture, it lacks of something. The plot is not justified as enough as I wanted to, and its elements have already been used millions of times before. However, the pacing and the action scenes are spectacular, and turns out to be a must-see for any sci-fi/action or anime fan out there. Good effort.
I wish I had time to watch every movie out there but since I don't I have to be picky about what I choose to watch. This one didn't make the cut because I don't think I'll like it or don't know enough about it to think I might like it.
A great piece of anime! I liked the plot line and I especially liked the characters. It didn't take me long to get use to the computer graphics that they made in this production, in fact I was very comfortable with it after a while, and more than once the special effects and the fighting moves from the heroes makes this movie worth watching all by itself! The only complaint I have is that I saw more than half of the plot twists coming. If you are into anime, do not miss this.
Pretty much one of the best anime movies I have seen in a long time. Mostly what I hate about anime is if you miss one episode, you are lost. This one keeps you interested till the very end. Very well done.
Awesome sci fi anime that combines CG with japanese animation. The compelling story and hard hitting action makes it part of my "FAVORITE MOVIE LIST"!! Highly recommended to anime and sci-fi fans alike!!
This anime is visually breathtaking, with a whole new futuristic Utopia and amazing scenery. The perfect world built for "the perfect human being" (as if there will ever be one), and ever since the dawn of time everywhere where perfection is being built there's always a catch, no matter what human beings it's all about NOBODY is perfect:D. Found this anime by mistake and i'm really glad i stumbled upon it. It's unlike anything you've ever seen. So much detail to everything, so much spirit and feelings, this is one animation movie that has more, well just more than many movies i've seen. Screenplay is great, i'm not sure about the actors cuz i watched in an english dubbed version, but no matter, deffinetly worth it anyhow you decide to watch it. So if you sometimes feel like watching a great animation movie, and incredible sci-fi story with incredible sfx, this would be the right choice (like i said, personally i'm an sfx junkie). Really hope the sequel will be at least as good as this one. Can gardly wait. ENJOY
Anything involving humans and cyborgs always ends up with one hating and wanting to destroy the other. This anime is no different. Story is familiar but told in its own way while the main character has a "selective amnesia". Weak story telling use, but nonetheless a constant. The animation seems to use a type of flash animation which isn't too bad but isn't that great. Good action, decent but typical story.
I don't get why a lot of people were so displeased with this movie.
Yeah, so the characters had obvious shade lines on their bodies and the animation wasn't the best in world.
But it didn't bother me too much. So what if it didn't look like Final Fantasy?
The story was fairly awesome.
I mean I'm so used to cyborgs, or robots, or genetically enhanced humans being the bad guys.
But in this film, those lines are blurred.
Mankind ended up being the enemy.
Which is really odd, because mankind tried to cease it's existence in order for it to not kill itself in the future.
It fascinating stuff to science fiction geeks.
Yeah, I know it's wacked up. But it..I don't know.I really liked the story and all the information that was given about the Bioriads or whatever the heck they're called.
This is a good movie and even though I think the stuff is a little weird for live action anime, still a very good movie! It had nice effects, action...characterization, voices were good. The Plot twists are also very nice indeed. One of my favorite anime films!
It's an anime with a unique, interesting look to it (sort of cel-shaded CGI), which they make the most of with the excellent visuals & action sequences throughout. On the other hand, the story features several sci-fi cliches, and the script features some cheesy dialogue (along with some shallow, meaningless references to Greek mythology). Still, despite the cheesiness, it remains fun throughout. Basically, it's a guilty pleasure.
It's okay, but not as brilliant as I had thought it would be. Sometimes the characters seem a bit too computerized, and not in the good way, since they've tried to make it anime-like but it looks more like a game for the PlayStation2, which I think has horrible graphics.
I was looking forward to watching this film for a fair while, but ultimately I have to say that I was somewhat disappointed. The action sequences were cool, lots of stuff going on at once, but the plot and the characterisation was bland. Everything was just hastily moved along, and in the end, a couple of antagonists just seemed irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Still, it looks great and I was entertained by the fight scenes.
EXTREMELY good! Graphic design was mind blowing, voice acting was great, and the whole plot was SO good since it keep you in your seat, waiting to find out and understand everything that was going on. Might be confusing in the beginning but watch the WHOLE thing because THEN you'll understand it all. ^^
