Colorful, breezy minor musical. Doris is full of her usual verve and Ray Bolger, although an unusual leading man for her is a dancing wonder especially in the number when he dances with Washington and Lincoln.

    typical Day lite stuff

The songs in this musical are easily forgettable, although Doris Day is always watchable when she's belting out a tune, and the plot isn't up to much - particularly for the first half of the film. That said, the whole wedding night sequence had me laughing out loud. The innuendo ...( read more)is extremely funny and Day and Bolger play their parts brilliantly as a couple basically desperate to bed each other without compromising their moral good standing. The innocence of the whole thing is highly amusing in and of itself. Add to that the amazing Ray Bolger, who doesn't look like a leading man but dances like Fred Astaire, and this movie is one I'd recommend.
