A great film about war and transformation--I would advise tracking it down and overcoming any fear you might have of subtitles or long flicks.

  • Brian Mckay, eFilmCritic.com

Part historical epic, Part booty-shaking music video. While the musical segues could have ended up on the editing room floor, I've sat through worse things than Kareena Kapoor shaking her bootay.

  • Jeff Vice, Deseret News, Salt Lake City

While it doesn't quite stack up with the best of recent Indian imports ... this handsome historical epic does have a lot to recommend it.

  • Ian Waldron-Mantgani, UK Critic

    Bold, rich, vibrant and passionate.

  • Rachel Dwyer, Sight and Sound

This enthralling film deserves to realise Indian producers' longstanding dream of reaching an international audience.

An applaudable effort from Santosh Sivan. If he had shown the guts to make this movie without the song sequences and certain Bolywood gimmicks this could have been a real class act, and well worth showing to an international audience.

    Great movie. Interesting story plot.
