MCT:July 6, 2008So this is a snuff love story, shot in handheld style, and it's only barely better than the first (only because the visuals are finally filmed at a better quality). I'm glad that there are the two characters exchanging things here, but this movie just can't compete with the extremity of the second August Underground movie. The biggest failure of the first movie was the lack of attempt at narrative or characterization, and this one tries to remedy that, but not convincingly so. Too many moments worth fast-forwarding through, and the induced shame scenes are not nearly as extreme as past entries. The gore is just as good, as now it is filmed so that it can be seen and one can truly appreciate the effects work. Like I said of the first one, better than your Saws and Hostels, but not this generation's Cannibal Holocaust.

MCT:December 13, 2007The third in the August Underground series, Penance is as big a piece of shit as the rest. Made for pure shock value with no plot to speak of, these movies are there to make you puke from the amount of senseless gore and extreme violence.
I cannot recommend this movie to anyone with a weak stomach or any concern for humanity. There is violence towards men, women, and children in all of these movies. There is no redeeming qualities other than an appreciation for realistic gore and makeup effects. -
MCT:October 16, 2007Not much to like here. Goes from boring to gross and back again. More tough to watch because of the terrible characters and embarassing performances. Also, I really hope the kid in the Xmas scene was at least 18, I don't get offended at much, but if that was a kid they seriously should be brought up on charges and Vogel has no integrity at all.

MCT:July 9, 2007Third film in the August Underground series with more "found footage" of the killers as they start to break down mentally. Lots of brutal and bloody scenes including a home invasion on christmas eve. I thought this one was better than Mordum but i still like the original best. Another great sick movie from Toetag Pictures.
