  The third and last in the August Underground trilogy takes a much needed breather after the relentless depravity of 'Mordum' as the trio from the previous film become a twosome with the loss of 'Maggot' and we are shown the stresses and cracks in the couples relationship as they go about their acts of torture and murder. This one is a lot more about character development but it still has plenty room to provide enough shocks from sickening dismemberments to a disturbing home invasion scene. The effective realism of the previous two films remains, though the picture quality is bit cleaner and clearer due to the use of a widescreen digital camera this time round. And once again the gore effects were greatly done. Overall it's a very good sequel with a little bit more to it plot-wise, but it was unsatisfactory as a conclusion to the series. With one of the killers still left standing I feel there's one more chapter of August Underground left to be explored.

  So this is a snuff love story, shot in handheld style, and it's only barely better than the first (only because the visuals are finally filmed at a better quality). I'm glad that there are the two characters exchanging things here, but this movie just can't compete with the extremity of the second August Underground movie. The biggest failure of the first movie was the lack of attempt at narrative or characterization, and this one tries to remedy that, but not convincingly so. Too many moments worth fast-forwarding through, and the induced shame scenes are not nearly as extreme as past entries. The gore is just as good, as now it is filmed so that it can be seen and one can truly appreciate the effects work. Like I said of the first one, better than your Saws and Hostels, but not this generation's Cannibal Holocaust. "So Fucked Up" highlight: characters annoyed at having to clean up

  Not much to like here. Goes from boring to gross and back again. More tough to watch because of the terrible characters and embarassing performances. Also, I really hope the kid in the Xmas scene was at least 18, I don't get offended at much, but if that was a kid they… More
