I had a chance to see the original short film, it was in black and white and was basically the scene where he wakes up during surgery and it was entertaining and a damn good short but as a full length feature, I'm not interested.
I was a little hesitant on this one since based on the story it could have totally sucked, but it totally didn't! It was actually very riveting. I would have liked a little more closure but otherwise very much enjoyed it.
WOW! i really enjoyed this movie contrary to popular belief that this movie was going to suck ass. I took a chance because i like hayden christensen and terrence howard. This movie offers a creepy possible reality that would be on everyones most feared to happen to them list where one is completely awake during anesthesia but cant move. He then hears a conspiracy to kill him and collect a butt load of money. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN????!!??!!? one might ask..... i would reply quite simply watch the movie and you will see, the answer will reveal to be......
Hayden Christensen? Bad Actor. Jessica alba? Bad actor but hot. A pshycological thriller with two bad actors and the hot chick remains unnessacaraly clothed? No thanks. Its just not worth my time.
If you can accept the farfetched premise, this is actually a pretty absorbing thriller. Awake is based on the condition anaesthesia awareness, which means you feel everything in the surgery after injection, even though your body is totally paralyzed. Creepy huh? And executed effectively! Then because that concept isn't scary or tense enough, enter a murder plot. The idea that all these doctors would be involved in this plot to kill Hayden Christensen and how they think they are able to get away with it takes a lot of suspension of disbelief. But again, it's intriguing and there's even a twist I didn't see coming. Running at a brisk 85 minutes, Awake will keep you just that.
I was surprised at how much I liked this movie. I knew, by word of mouth, that there was a twist in the film, but I wasn't expecting the the final reveal. I could name 10 other actors who could of done a better job with the lead role. I"m just not a Hayden Christensen fan. The movie could have done without the family secrets scenes. It added nothing to the film but just dragged it on for a few more minutes.
love J Alba, but after watching this, I thought, damn, what a BIOTCH! LOL, excellent acting on her part, and Hayden turns his best performance, as a wooden guy on a table.
Hayden Christiansen is probably the worst actor going, Alba is one of the worst actresses (though gorgeous), yet neither ruined this movie. Thank you, Terrance Howard.
saw it with 3 guys first, the again with myt bestfriend and got scared, nbut the first time i wasn't scared, i wonder why?? HMMMMMMMM theres something to think about
**SPOILERS** A good Thriller. A reasonable plot. Jessica Alba, an actress who usually portrays the "good girl" delivers a shocking and believable performance as the traitor.
It had an interesting plot..there's nothing much i can say about the acting since i didn't expect much from both Alba and CHristensen. They were just ok, probably not as bad as the previous movies they had been in. I wasn't really moved by any of the performances, except maybe for Terrence Howard. It's not as gripping as i hoped it would be...it's somewhat predictable too but over-all i would say it still is watchable.
Only OK. Concept fell flat at the end and flaws in the story were easily seen. Interesting premise with a decent twist but it just didn't make me believe it.
Brisk little thriller that more times than not delivers its punches. Even Christensen, who I despise, turns out a decent performance although I wonder if it might have something to do with the rest of the cast being solid actors especially Lena Olin who is still looking pretty darn hot.
Average psychological thriller about a man who experiences the frighteningly common surgical phenomenon known as 'anesthetic awareness'. But there was something interesting to find out the mystery and betrayal between the man's best friend and his wife. This is the first time I ever saw Jessica Alba played as a bitch character.
