It looks like an interesting film. Pitt has got to be the single most overated actor in western civilization today, but hopefully his subpar acting won't kill the film!

This Movie Was Good But It's True It Didn't Need That Third Story The One About The Japanese People It Doesn't Fit In The Movie.
You, my friend, need to look deeper into the meaning of the movie than just the surface plot. The movie's themes about being all alone and helpless connect Rinko Kikuchi's character to the rest of the film.
Also there are four stories
Japanese
Mexico/American border
Brad Pitt/Cate Blanchette
The two arab boys.

Ohmigosh this film is awesome. My best friend took me to it for my birthday and I didn't expect it to be so great coz of the subtitles, but I loved it! Anyone who says it's rubbish has no taste.
All right, I liked this movie well enough, but the guy that says it's better than 21 Grams is completely out of his fucking mind.
It's better than 21 Grams, but both are still great films.
Babel is the last in the Iñarritu/Arriaga trilogy, and it's the only film that gets the fundamental emotions and message perfect. Babel is far better than 21 Grams.

WHAT?! This movie was lame. As far as a plot goes anyway. 4 stories brought together by lack of a common language? I must've missed it. I can't believe this film was nominated for anything. I had to mute the movie a few times because that 'sound' was grating. I was expecting much more.
It appears as a documentary more than an ordinary movie.
Very political.Reflected parts of social & political lives of today at different countries at 3 different continents.
Very interesting.
this movie sucked i fell asleep in the first hr of it. It's that boring. I don't know how this got nominated for awards.
You can see Brad lapping this spilled milk off the ground. He must be thirsty for another nomi.
Brad if you get an award for this trash movie I'll kill you! I'LL KILL YOU! lol
lol your joking right? .. theres no way this film can even be NOMINATED for best Score.. the soundtrack is boring and tedious, exretmley simple and repetative. It annoys me thinking back to it.
a total waste of time!
disgusting scenes, pathetic story-line, the thing i said most of all was "COME ON!!" and "OMG!!" it was really bad!!
I am not comparing Babel to Crash at all because they are somewhat different in subject matter. Crash was more about racism but Babel is not the "brilliant, excellent" drama it is made out to be. Not that it wasn't a good movie but it wasn't extremely outstanding. Adriana Barraza's performances were particularly good. I will give it credit for portraying aspects of it's name; Babel.
Much better than I had anticipated. Once I saw it I realized that nobody GOT it that I had spoken to - which though there are moral issues to be had here, as I said in my review this movie will preach to the choir mostly, as mostly folks aren't going to see. Irony there yes. It's about cause and affect run amuck - Not Understanding - not listening - not seeing - not hearing, etc, etc. Babel - yes. NOT understanding one another. The 3 connecting stories were all needed to convey this - there was also the "gun control" message here too - loud and clear. This was a preachy movie - But it WAS a good movie.
This WAS comparable to Crash and to Magnolia that led the pact on all of these if truth be known - all very similar in genre.
Excellent film....A good look into how alone, how isolated each of is really is, or can be...how our fate can change in a scant instant, leaving us fully dependent upon the kindness of strangers. I was encouraged to see caring, decent people for a change; people who showed apathy for the villain it is.
Well it's safe to say that Rinko Kikuchi was definately robbed for best supporting actress this past Oscars. I just saw Dreamgirls and Kate Hudson won because of her singing. Her acting was mediocre at best whereas Rinko Kikuchi was a standout in a film with a wealth of great performances. The Oscars celebrate ACTING- JHud's award should have been at the Grammys, and once again the Academy proves thier picks are based on politics and hype.
I'm afraid I find the comparisons to 'Crash' more apt than I wish they were. Not because of structure (fragmented structure has been around for decades and is a trademark of Iñarritu's films) but because of subject matter and, more disturbingly, they share some of the same flaws. Do not get me wrong: Babel is the far superior film and Crash is extremely overrated but much to horror I found myself thinking of Paul Haggis more than once during this film.
To everyone that has been comparing this to Crash... just take a look at Innaritu's previous film, the BRILLIANT Amores Perrosand see that he has been a master at creating movies based on interlinked stories a LOOONG time before Crash even existed. Innaritu is a superior director and Babel is superior to Crash in every aspect.
