Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"Baby's faintly reptilian eyes are dead. And with them dies a lot of our belief."
‑ Sheila Benson, Los Angeles Times
"Though not as wonderful as it might have been, this film is a must for Disney fans. Typical of the studio's films, it tugs at your heart while making you laugh."
‑ , TV Guide's Movie Guide
"Sappy family stuff about a bland little dinosaur and his very boring keepers."
‑ Scott Weinberg,
"Dopey entertainment for adults of all ages."
‑ Vincent Canby, New York Times
"Even if your children like dinosaurs, don't let them be exposed to the offensive, insensitive, intolerably anti-humanist and racist propagandizing that is draped around them in this film. No plot, no heart, no soul."
‑ Marie Mahoney, Austin Chronicle
"Director B.W.L. Norton surrounds the sweetness with a heavy, crude, and far too realistically rendered action plot that effectively cancels out whatever warmth the film manages to generate."
‑ Dave Kehr, Chicago Reader
"Not much to say about this hackneyed jungle movie."
‑ Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat, Spirituality and Practice
