Scott Weinberg, FEARnet
A more-than-passable 80-minute expenditure for the serious horror fans.

Steve "Uncle Creepy" Barton, Dread Central
I was happy with the movie itself but pissed off that I had allowed it to fly below my radar for so long. Do yourself a favor. If you're looking for a demented good time, see this film as soon as you can. People with weak stomachs need not apply.

Babysitter Wanted is quite similar to the movie House of the Devil in many ways (though it preceded it by about a year). Both movies have a similar premise (young woman at a small college taking a rural babysitting job at a spooky locale because she's desperate for money), both try to scare you by slowly building tension (at least, initially) in a large, quiet house, and both have similar sources of evil as the heart of the threat to our unsuspecting heroines.
The main difference between the two movies, though (besides a gruesome twist or two), is that House of the Devil is just better. It's more frightening, more interesting, and more memorable. That's not to say that Babysitter Wanted is bad or not worth watching. It's a sinister movie that's shot well, and I didn't find much reason to complain about the actors (though there is a faintly ridiculous monologue almost an hour into the proceedings that would have been better left out). The story is simple and violence and gore are certainly present (though it happens off-screen as often as on). The last 45 minutes or so are quite different from what comes before, so be prepared for a shift in tone.
The final act is where the two movies really separate themselves, and that's really where I think House of the Devil completely outshines this.
Maybe I would have appreciated Babysitter Wanted more if I hadn't seen a superior, similar movie that I couldn't help comparing it to. Give it a try if you'd like; there are far, far worse horror movies available.

This was funny! Pretty ridiculous movie I tell you. But I must admit it was scary to watched what happened to the victims.

A pretty decent horror that starts well but then a big plot change changes everything. It starts out quite creepy a girl alone babysitting at a remote farm believes someone else is there. However there is more to the child than meets the eye! Then it gets quite gory and becomes quite a different film altogether. It's not bad overall but the plot change kinda spoiled it a bit for me.

Features more stingers than all of the Halloween movies combined. Its a silly mish-mash of horror cliches but there's enough energy and blood to keep the film from sinking into full-suck territory.

This movie started out as a piss poor, devoid of creativity, paper thin actors, shallow plot kinda movie, but at the half way point took a turn for the ridiculous which actually served it well, as it began to take on Horror/Comedy elements, which were actually quite enjoyable. A little dissappointed with the ending. Without giving it away here's why. If you want the audience to sympathize with the victim, don't make them an annoying as fuck Jesus freak weirdo. She made the satanic, redneck cannibal seem normal and likeable in comparison. (He was the best character too btw.) Anyways worth seeing for the second half. The first half sucks. Watch it if you want something easy to watch that doesn't eat up too much of your time. Just don't go into it expecting too much.

Nice low budget horror flick with enough humor to keep it engaging.

When this started i thought it was going to be an average and predictable horror but, despite following by the general horror rules, was pleasantly suprised. Young, pretty student Angie takes a job as a babysitter for a seemingly normal couple but when she starts getting strange phone calls, the creepiness begins...so far, so predictable and you start thinking of the old horror cliche's but then the twist comes and totally turns the film on its head and makes this a suspense filled, eventually very gory, fun horror. A great performance from Sarah Thompson as Angie carries this film along and is great for fans of the likes of Black Christmas and House of the Devil, which it is most like. A very good late night horror, despite what flixster might say!

Shockingly similar to House of the Devil, but hey, I ain?t complaining. Though the director doesn?t have the talent of West, this is still a very entertaining flick with some fun performances. An easy watch.

This wasn't totally horrible like I was expecting. The acting actually wasn't bad, but the plot twist was too much to accept. It got pretty stupid at the end. However, the effects were actually quite decent.

Should be Horror/Comedy more so than Horror/Thriller. This isn't a scary movie. It's disturbing, sure, but not scary.

The twist were good, the acting decent and there are some good gory moments. The productions values are great for a low budget movie, although there are a few lighting issues in the second half.
Overall, was well worth the watch.
