Once again, Lawrence and Smith play hotshot, wisecracking Miami narcotics officers Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey. This time around, Burnett and Lowrey have been assigned to head up a task force to investigate the illegal trafficking of ecstasy into the city. They discover that an underground gang war has been instigated by drug kingpin Johnny Tapia (Jordi Molla). In order to cut off the flow of the designer drug, they have to take down Tapia. Unfortunately, there's a wrench thrown into the gears in the form of Burnett's sister Syd, whom Lowrey takes a liking to and begins a relationship with. Tensions rise between the partners, threatening both their friendship and the investigation and putting Syd in harm's way. Also returning from the first film are Joe Pantoliano as Captain Howard, Theresa Randle as Burnett's wife Theresa, and former-NBA star John Salley as 'Hacker' Fletcher. Among the supporting players new to this entry in the series are Peter Stormare and musician, spoken-word artist, and sometimes-actor Henry Rollins. ~ Matthew Tobey, Rovi

J. R. Jones, Chicago Reader
This sequel is as sour and jaded as they come.
-
Peter Rainer, New York Magazine
Bad Boys II, which reunites Martin Lawrence and Will Smith as Miami narcotics agents, resembles a full-length promo for itself.
-
Jon Caramanica, Village Voice
Bad Boys 2 plays like a flashy highlight reel from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
-
Richard Roeper, Ebert & Roeper
... a nasty, mean-spirited movie.
-
Charles Taylor, Salon.com
Necrophilia, explosions, destroyed motor vehicles, gratuitous T&A and Martin Lawrence and Will Smith doing their lame Abbott-and -Costello act. What's not to hate?
-
Desson Thomson, Washington Post
Just like Bad Boys, only louder, longer and the stars get paid more.
-
, Film4
Epitomising everything that's wrong with modern Hollywood, Bad Boys II isn't simply bad, it's one of the worst films of the year.
-
Nell Minow, Common Sense Media
Generic, loud and violent action; not for kids.

Urban Cinefile Critics, Urban Cinefile
Sure, we can quibble about the bloodied body parts, the gluttony of bullets and gore, but who's gonna give a damn, when there's so much fun to be had?
-
Joe Lozito, Big Picture Big Sound
Bombastic director Michael Bay oughta have his artistic license revoked.
-
Rob Gonsalves, eFilmCritic.com
Hollywood psychopathology writ large.
-
Jeffrey Chen, Window to the Movies
The movie is one big raging pile of macho steam-blowing. Maybe the participants got something out of their systems, but the result just feels like hot air.
-
, Empire Magazine
There's some 'bad', meaning good, here; there's also a lot of plain bad. Frankly, there's just far too much of everything.
-
Derek Adams, Time Out
Way over the top, the film is morally off-kilter, designed for laddish lunkheads with a thirst for the lowest common denominator.
-
Jean-François Vandeuren, Panorama
Jerry Bruckheimer nous offre une fois de plus du cinéma fast-food très vide et irresponsable.
-
Jason Zingale, Bullz-Eye.com
I'm going to get straight to the point on this one: Bad Boys 2 sucks.
-
Michael Dequina, Film Threat
Bad Boys II is indeed one bloated, loud, frenetic slice of all-around excess, but it's all in good summertime fun.
-
Douglas Pratt, DVDLaser
The film is able to use the two stars to relieve tension with quips and rejoinders, while not breaking its veneer of seriousness, or, at least, not breaking it too much.
-
Thomas Delapa, Boulder Weekly
Just when you think Hollywood movies can't get any worse, Bruckheimer and Bay outdo themselves for another exercise in pulverizing macho brutality
-
Scott Chitwood, ComingSoon.net
Bad Boys II' has all the elements of a great popcorn flick, but not even the wonderful chemistry between Smith and Lawrence can save the film from gore, a confusing plot, a long running time, and slow motion scenes of people looking cool.

First of all this film proves everything thats wrong with Hollywood today. Big budgets and massive stars dont make decent popcorn movies. A story and some likable characters would do it for me among most people. But this lowest common denominator action flick is just lightning paced, charmless, witless, thrill free and heartless drivel that's badly directed by Michael Bay and follows the same formula as the first film and I mean doesn't do anything new whatsoever. With even more explosions, bad acting and Michael Bay's typically pointless upskirt shots. It's supposed to be an action film yes, but it lacks any form of power and consequently the film is just completely boring. -

After the below average Armageddon and the terrible Pearl Harbor, Michael returns to form with the sequel to his directorial debut. This sequel takes the first film and injects steroids that doubles everything. Doubles the comedy and the action. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence still retain that dynamite chemistry, with better comedy material to boost. The action is bigger, louder, and a lot more explosive. The film's highway chase sequence is one of the best action sequences committed to film. The film is essentially non stop action, but with its slightly bloated time length, it may get tiring for some. If you are not into the hardcore comedy style, then this is not the film for you. The music is also very good, although it does sound similar to Speed at times. This film maybe dumb, but it is a very entertaining dumb movie. -

Sequel to the lame, unimpressive Bad Boys is a terrific mess of a film that has nothing good going on, on screen. The film lacks power, and knows it's an action film, but this is terrible. The performances are bad and the directing is plainly awful. I really don't know why Bad Boys II was made. I always felt that this was a poor attempt at creating a buddy cop action comedy, and it fails. The talent, if you can call it that is wasted on screen. The plot is terrible, and the actions scenes are sloppy. In Michael Bay's long illustrious cinematic career, there has been only two films of his that truly delivered. Bad Boys and this sequel isn't one of them. I absolutely hated this film and it was really bad. The acting and script were terrible. I view these films as a rip off of the Lethal Weapon films, though the Lethal Weapon films weren't excellent, in fact they were cheesy, at least most of them had an elaborate plot. Something that these two films lack. I hated this film, and I thought it was pointless to make. This is yet another Michael Bay that is totally and poorly conceived. Some of the cast actually do have talent, Peter Stormare, Joe Pantoliano and Will Smith are great, but the rest? Oh man, could they use acting school. Bad Boys II may entertain, but the films finished result is one that lacks real spark that has some of the cop genre so special in the first place. -

This basically doubles everything that made the first movie so fun and entertaining. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence come back this time with a vengeance. After all, this shit gets real. Their chemistry together is just as good, if not better. The friendship is so believable and pretty unique within the realm of buddy cop scenarios. Michael Bay continues is legacy of destruction with this extravaganza of shoot-outs, explosions and general mayhem. The plot is really cool this time around and that was definitely important, due to the fact that we already know these characters. Having such a kingpin and downright evil villain makes this all the more easy to bite into. Both of these movies have a great sense of blending comedy with extremely realistic violence and crazy stunts. They're fun movies that are easy to enjoy over and over. -

Bad Boys II is really a mixed bag. The reason for this is because the film almost plays completely like a checklist. Let me explain. If you're not familiar with the original Bad Boys, that film worked mainly because of the chemistry between Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. Their characters may not have been the most original addition to the buddy cop genre, but it was nevertheless fun to watch them on screen. Add to that some expertly staged action sequences, and Joe Pantoliano's Captain Howard, who gives the film a lot of great comic relief by chewing out Lawrence and Smith for their reckless antics, and Bad Boys was a solid and memorable action picture. So Bad Boys II is more of the same. The film is a pattern of scenes. One features Smith and Lawrence banter, then we see the villain being bad, the next is an explosive action scene followed by Captain Howard yelling and screaming. The film pretty much rotates these scenes for 147 minutes. This is a bad thing if you like your movies intelligent and with a compelling story. Bad Boys II has neither. It's a turn off your brain action picture that only works if you like Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. I like these two actors. I particularly like Will Smith. He is one of the few actors who has the ability to make any film good just by being onscreen; maybe that's why he hasn't had a flop in over ten years. The thing is that I know Bad Boys II isn't exactly a "good" movie. It's ridiculous, silly, and is less concerned about story than stitching scenes together that provide nothing but mindless entertainment. Strangely enough, I was entertained by them. I liked the action scenes. I liked the characters, and I laughed at the humour. Call me an idiot, but the scenes work, even if the film as a whole doesn't. -

Watching a Michael Bay movie is a lot like going to an amusement park. You know you won't be bored, but it's not something that's gonna stimulate your intellect. And by the end of the day, when you're nauteous from all the roller-coasting riding and overstuffed from all the junk food, you just wanna sit down somewhere before you puke. Except, the difference is, a trip to an amusement park still leaves you with some long-lasting memories. I can't really say the same thing for this film. Great action scenes though, and the hilarious interplay between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence makes it all worthwhile. -

The first film was a story of a Tiger roaming around in it's cage. This film releases that Lion, and it's ready to pounce. Nice job Michael! -

I didn't turn off a movie in a very long time. But the first 45 minutes of this were nothing but annoying, dumb stereotypes. Although I enjoyed the first part, this sequel had nothing to offer. Shiny camera tricks, car wrecks, shootouts, sure, there are worse things to see in a movie of the cop buddies genre. The thing is, we've seen it all before and better. This film tried to top it all by boosting the violence to new levels, but the general feel of the film was so stupid and, even worse, inhuman and misanthropic that I had to turn it off because I felt it just was stealing my time. What a waste. -

Marcus Burnett: You see that? Mike Lowery: They throwin' cars. How'd I not see that. Marcus Burnett: Hey, Mike, I'm just trying to be helpful. Mike Lowery: Hey, you'd know what would be fuckin' helpful, Marcus? Just shut the fuck up and let me drive,… More
Marcus Burnett: You see that? Mike Lowery: They throwin' cars. How'd I not see that. Marcus Burnett: Hey, Mike, I'm just trying to be helpful. Mike Lowery: Hey, you'd know what would be fuckin' helpful, Marcus? Just shut the fuck up and let me drive, let's try that. People can think how they want, but I enjoy watching this movie. There is nothing to get out of it, except lots of action and humorous scenes. A nice, big, loud, action packed ride that is very easy to watch. There is nothing to gain from this except entertainment and it does its job... Bay style. What's also hilarious is how every shot in this movie is a 'trailer shot', you can take any five scenes and turn that into a trailer for the movie. Marcus Burnett: Shit just got real. Marin Lawrence and Will Smith return as narcotic cops, this time dealing with a drug lord who goes from Cuba to Miami, dealing with ecstasy through various sources. While dealing with this, the presence of Burnett's DEA agent sister, played by Gabrielle Union makes things difficult. Especially since Mike has been seeing her. Capt. Howard: I can't believe you guys. Do you get up in the morning, call each other up, 'Good morning, Marcus. Good morning, Mike. How you doin'? Ai'ight. So how we going to fuck up the captain's life today? Gee, I don't know. I don't know. Ooh, look. Over there. Let's kill three fat people and leave them on the street?' Joe Pantoliano also returns to wonder how these guys blow up everything and everybody in their path. This movie is literally packed with all kinds of violence, but as I have said, I enjoy it. Its great escapism. Michael Bay knows how to make action sequences work. [after decimating the gang with gunfire] Mike Lowery: Now show 'em your badge! -

But there are a few funny scenes that are well worth it... even a few action scenes that are good. If Michael Bay could realize that less is more and stop trying to pack his movies full of crap, he might have something worth working with, but alas, less is never more when it comes to money. -
