Plot:
Emma did a superb job!!
Excellent movie, love emma watsons character, the beginning is quite comical but it ends on a rather dramatic note, also love richard griffiths in it, didnt know he was in it!! Emmas acting is way more dramatic and emotional than any of the HP movies!!
I haven't seen the 1976 version which I think this is for, but I HAVE seen the newer version with Emma Watson and it was remarkable...
THIS IS THE PAGE FOR THE 1976 VERSION!
About the new version: the performances are great and Emma Watson showes that has future out of Harry Potter series. The story is sometimes dramatic and than funny and simple. Deserves to be seen!
OH MY GOD!!! I LOVE THIS MOVIE...the new version.
Everyone in this movie done a superb job and i think it goes without saying that i recommend any one to see it.
The storyline is very well written and the performance given by both adult and child cast is remarkable to say the least.
Easily love able and quite funny in some parts. It has a strong sense of British-ness to it but the cast just fits together perfectly.
The movie had a dramatic feel to it and the actors bought it to life more so as the movie progressed. The tragic story of a man who leaves three children with the Nanny and their soon to be mother.
Then it shows them growing up rather quickly and then the story kicks in once the governess to Gums estate has made it quite clear that she cannot possibly send the two girls to the prestigious school any longer.
The Three Girls then establish a pact, that no matter what it took that the name fossil would be in history books.
The girls are then forced into a dance school on a whim of being able to pay back the owner once their careers have started. Two out of the three are happy, Petrova however is not, for she is quite sure she wants to become a pilot like her hero.
As school progresses Pauline catches the eye of a teacher and wins over the roll of Alice, Alice in Wonderland. Posy also attracts attention to the schools owner, becoming the first to receive personal dance lessons.
After doing several shows Pauline becomes a bit self absorbed and loses her roll to her understudy, who doesn't like Pauline at all.
Getting a reality check she heads home, to be told by Petrova that their guardian has fallen ill with a viral infection. Pauline, feeling it is up to her to make money for the poor estate shows up at another show with Petrova to be cast, A Midnight Summers Dream.
After finishing their final performance Pauline then insists that her and Petrova try out for another production but Petrova, being the most hesitant said "we have raised the money for Sylvia and you know very well i don not like productions".
Mean while Sylvia falls head over heels for a man she is letting a room to, Doctor Jakes. As he has just opened a garage Petrova helps him feeling in her element.
The relationship grows as he helps out the daughters in finding work. Pauline, after staring in two productions gets a role in a movie.
Pauline soon discovers that working on a set is quite a bit different to working on stage, but after being pushed to perform she shows talent a lot more beyond what had been expected.
Soon the three girls, Sylvia, Nanny and Doctor Jakes, their ride back, go for a short holiday, after Pauline and Petrova had raised the money for the trip.
When they get back to the house Sylvia soon admits to Petrova that she can no longer afford to live in the estate, feeling angry Petrova storms away, not understanding the situation thoroughly.
Posy, still in dance school is soon taken to a prestigious event where she was to dance for a Russian ballet teacher but never got the chance as while they were waiting her teacher had a stroke.
Sylvia then announced to the girls that she would be selling the house. She explained that they would no longer need to attend school or act for when the house was sold they would be able to afford a decent living, Petrova was the only happy girl among them.
Posy argued with Sylvia about wanting to continue to dance, saying that Sylvia had no authorities over her what so ever. Sylvia then grounded Posy from being able to go to Pauline premiere, which happened to be that night.
Leaving Posy by herself they attended Pauline's premiere. As she walked down the stairs, an unknown actress, she turned to see someone she aspired to be getting her picture taken.
As they sat down to watch said movie, Pauline feeling like a fraud and fake heard her sister Petrova mutter "your name is as small as the authors, maybe no one will notice you in the film" Pauline smiled.
The was not the case for when they exited people were wanting an autograph from her in every direction. Feeling overwhelmed she was swept away by and the Nanny where they would return to the estate to find Posy missing.
Sylvia and family, distraught did not know where she could be so they silently awaited her return.
Posy, however had gone to show herself to the Russian ballet teacher who never got to see her as her teacher had had a stroke.
The Russian teacher, quite skeptical of her abilities gave her the benefit of the doubt. Posy soon returned home to tell her family that she had gotten into his highly ranked school...only to be told that she could not go for the state of the financial life.
Pauline, who had been told earlier that day that she was offered a contract for five years in Hollywood for acting stood forward.
Pauline felt hesitant towards the contract as she wanted her acting to be on stage but realizing the opportunity not only for herself she agreed, only to be reunited with Gum, the man who had left them 12 years before.
After sorting all things out, Pauline would go to Act in Hollywood, Petrova would learn to fly a plane and Posy would dance in the prestigious school.
Not soon after Doctor Jakes and Sylvia got married. The ending was quite fulfilling as it showed Petrova flying in an aeroplane with Gums.
This movie was one of the best i have seen in a while and i have to admit that the few good movies i have seen, most of them came from telivison productions!
Excellent acting by all of the older cast and magnificent acting to the three younger actresses, two of which i do not know the name but one i do, and that is Emma Watson.
Splendid work and i must say i have never been more satisfied after watching a movie. It was heartwarming, funny at time, dramatic and overall brilliant.
Great work and very heart warming to see Girls follow their dreams, no matter what odds are stack up against them!
WELL DONE!
not bad!!! although it was tragic at some parts...it wasn't bad at all the dancing was quite good actually...
I love this,, this is so cute,,...
there are three orphans who becames sisters then they all followed their hearts through BALLET SHOES!!
I wish they hadn't abridged the book so much in this one. The general idea was gained though, and luckly they kept most of the key elements.
its ac cute movie. i havent seen it in forever. but ive been dancing since like forever ago! so of course i like it.
