Ballistic-Ecks vs. Sever is so incredibly bad on a mammoth scale that I feel like I should give every movie I've reviewed up to this point an extra star just for not being this one. I could talk about the director's name being Kaos, a scene where a cop holds a gun on a dead body,...( read more) the irrepressibly bad acting, the piss poor soundtrack, monstrous absences in logic, painful dialogue or the incoherent war crime story but I won't. There is no mistaking that Ballistic-Ecks vs. Sever is complete and total dogshit but in a really fucked up way it kind of works. Granted, it works in the same way that mustard gas or a backed up toilet works, but if you love wasting your time on almost-total shit you should have a great time. I knew this movie was going to be bad, the only question was how bad. And the answer? Pretty fucking bad. The more I think about this movie the more I want those 91 minutes of my life back...

Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu chase each other through a hail of bullets, broken glass and pointless explosions in this borderline nonsensical action flick. I literally cannot even attempt a synopsis of the plot because it makes so little sense! The characters are all cardboard c...( read more)ut-outs spouting action cliches and Ray Park is quite possibly the least charismatic villain I have ever seen. The fight choreography is clumsy and the constant stream of irrelevant stunts start to look plain silly after a while because there's so little plot to hang them on. If it weren't for the star names attached to it, this soulless and mechanical firework display would have struggled to make a straight to DVD release and is little better or intelligent than your average Van Damme debacle. If watching cars fly through the air and spontaneously explode for no reason to bad techno music is enough for you, then it may be worth 90 minutes of your time. If you need a coherent plot or remotely interesting characters, forget it.

"Your most dangerous enemies are the friends you've double-crossed"

Two former government agents square off as they search for the most deadly new weapon on Earth in this white-knuckle thriller. Sever (Lucy Liu) was once a top agent with the Defense Intelligence Agency, b...( read more)ut she quit when her son was killed in a bungled raid organized by Gant (Gregg Henry), and has sworn to take vengeance against him and his colleagues. When Sever learns that Gant and his team are in possession of a remarkable new weapon -- a microscopic device injected into the victim's bloodstream which is benign until triggered, then kills immediately without leaving a trace -- she is determined to get her hands on it, whatever the cost. However, Gant has turned rogue, and FBI agent Julio Martin (Miguel Sandoval) has been ordered to find him and recover his new weapon. Martin needs the best man he can find for the job, and calls upon Jeremiah Ecks (Antonio Banderas), a former FBI tracker, to do the job. Ecks quit the Bureau when his wife was killed, but Martin informs Ecks that his spouse is actually alive and in hiding, and if he can bring in Gant, she will be returned to him. But Ecks has to face the most formidable adversary of his life in Sever, a master of mayhem bent on revenge.

    Review
Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever doesn't deserve to be called an action movie. As a matter of fact, its not a movie, its a jumbled mess with no plot, wooden acting and just plain atrocious. One of the worst movies I've ever seen and I want one and a half hour of my life back. There is absolutely no redeeming value in this piece of garbage, it headlines Banderas and Liu in their worst roles ever, one can only wonder why the two of them agreed to do this garbage. The dialogue is monosyllabic and the plot, if there ever was one, is distasteful. Also, the excessive and unnecessary use of explosives reached to an annoying and "make-me-want-to-kill-the-director" level, I just wanted it to be over with this device of mental torture. I strongly urge you not to watch this piece of junk, steer clear from it at all costs and erase it from your memory forever.

I f the director is called Kaos, what's there to wait? A kaos of a movie...

Just another brainless demo of stunts with more terrible background music than dialogue. The stunts doesn't even have that "wow factor", they're pretty bad actually.

I'd give it a minus rating if possib...( read more)le. Easily viewed and easily forgotten.

3 of 5 stars for this action movie. The movie opens with a child kidnapping and a chase of the kidnapper (Lucy Liu). Later an expert (Antonio Banderas) is brought-in to find the kid and get the kidnapper. The bulk of the movie is a cat-and-mouse between these two. OK, let me expl...( read more)ain that cat-and-mouse in this case means massive explosions, vast amounts of ammo expended, lots of cars and stuff blown-up. Lots and lots of action and explosions and shooting!

Later in the movie certain character connections are exposed and relations change, the cat-and-mouse team-up to go after the real bad-guy in the movie. Oh, add lots more action and explosions including most of a train yard getting blown-up.

So why three stars? Well, usually I really like Liu and Banderas. In this movie, both characters were really thin and hard to connect with. In fact, in the whole movie every character is thin/shallow and not likeable. Heck, even the kidnapped kid had no personality. So, if you are into characters, this ain't your movie.

If you want an easy on your brain blow-it-up/shoot-it-up movie, this is for you!
