Another stupid but funny movie. But the difference in this one is Christopher Walken. He is an amazing actor, and he pretty much pulls off his "supposed to be stupid" role perfectly. All the jokes and wise cracks about playing with balls got old after a while, but most of them actually made me laugh. If you are into crude humor, this is a good movie for you.
Cross Enter The Dragon with Kickboxer. Replace all of the karate with ping-pong, and what do you get? An absolute laugh riot!!! This really could have been awful, but thankfully Will Farrell is nowhere to be seen as he is just the sort of actor that would have riuned this film.
Even though it had its moments, this movie was quite disappointing!! The story was so weak & I wasn't impressed with Dan Fogler's acting at all!! He wasn't the right actor for the main role!
the storyline wasn't that bad.. Ping Pong really izn't one of my favorite sportz.. but it wazn't that bad.. I really thought it would have been worse... hottie of the movie... MAGGIE Q ...
Some of the smaller roles make it worth watching. Plus, if you've ever tried playing Ping Pong and couldn't stop laughing because of where you got hit by the ball, you'll like this movie.
Ping pong tournament death match comedy is probably a new subgenre, if this isn?t considered a riff on Dodgeball, a funnier movie. A cast of zany people play for the score at a fake Oriental palace where a hilarious assassin master in Asian drag lords over them.
Fun-knee. Would've been funnier if they again, hadn't given away half the gags in the previews, but it was still a hoot. Well worth checkin' out when you're in a goofy-silly mood.
This movie was alright, but not something I would want to watch again. It had it's funny bits and then the rest was absolute crap. Sorry to anyone who is a fan, but I thought this movie was pretty bad....
Quite funny movie but a tad of a wasted oppurtunity. It could have been alot better with a improved script and more of an experienced main actor. Dan Fogler always seems to be awkward and his comic timing isn't great. But the script does offer up some good laughs. The story takes place within a secret dangerous ping pong tornament in which losers are killed. One of these contenders is Randy Datona, a ex-child ping pong star. He is secretly working for the FBI who want to find out what the organiser of this tornament is up too, (a daft Christopher Walken). It has a plot that seems to have to much going on in a comedy. It starts off pretty averagely with un-engaging table tennis games and an un-original back-story line. Once Randy gets in to the tornament is when it really picks up. The story actually adds a bit of depth. The table tennis games become intresting and Christopher Walken is great as the ridiculous villian. The supporting cast are quite wooden and don't really do much, but Maggie Q is just so fit!. THe ending is pleasing and the final table tennis game (if you could call it that) is inventive. So this film is good for what it is, do not go in expecting something new and origial like the likes of Superbad and Knocked Up.
Great chop-saki spoof and Walken should just continue to do his "Walken persona" just like Diniro constantly does his "Diniro persona". The lead is funny and the story is "Kickboxer-like" only with ping-pong. Funny premise and good use of ping-pong CGI. Not everything in the movie is funny and some is just stupid - but if you can set your expectations properly and have a sense of humor it will be mostly funny and at worst case tolerable. A good rental, but I would have hated to pay even matinee prices for it.
It was one of those movies that all the funny stuff was in the previews... but I don't really remember laughing during the previews. Original that is for sure though. **NOTE** The extra half star comes from Christopher Walken being ridiculous and him not knowing what he is saying.
This movie was just about above average. Nothing special really, just a bunch of scenes of people playing table tennis really professionally, some pretty good laughs and a mildly interesting storyline. Other than that it was nothing special. Christopher Walken of course played really well as he usually does and the other actors did OK too. Overall it's just a light movie that makes you laugh.
Actually a pretty funny movie with a brilliant Christopher Walken and Hong Kong legend James Hong doing sendups of the characters they always play. Nice homage to kung fu flicks with Dan Fogler playing the less irritating Jack Black type of role. Thomas Lennon proves he can write dumb fun as good as anyone! And is Maggie Q hot or what?
