This movie has a surprisingly accurate outlook on the behavior of people in a school environment. Sure, the characters and their actions were somewhat embellished but I think that was the point- to embolden what goes on in a kids life that really affects them. That school isn't just going to class and learning, and petty insignificant problems. The script was pretty smart and Ben Foster knocks this one out of the park. Every role he takes, he nails. This was no exception. Bang Bang You're Dead was worth it for his performance alone, and despite a low budget w/ very simple, straight forward directing job, it's a captivating story as well.
I love this movie! it goes right into your heart. awesome acting and I love seeing Ben Foster in the main role in this, his a great actor and one of my favorites. this movie is very strong, sad and realistic in every way and I almost cried a couple of times..this story really makes you experience the tormented youths and makes you to try and understand their emotions and thoughts.
This is such a great emotional and powerful film. This was a made for TV movie that I first caught when they premiered it on Showtime. It's about a shooting that might possibly take place at a troubled teenagers local high school, and unlike the movie "Elephant" this one gives us more insight as to why the troubled teens want to go along with it and focuses a lot more on their emotions. Do not watch this movie if you get depressed easily, because trust me this one is a downer. On the other hand it might actually help you better understand that there are always two sides of the story, and even though these teen offenders wanted to commit such a horrible act, they too were victims as well. Two wrongs do not make a right, and shooting up a school is totally immoral and unjustifiable, but this movie did show that the troubled teens still indeed had much innocence hidden somewhere inside them.
Ben Foster is amazing in this movie. His character in the film goes by the name of Trevor Adams, who was recently suspended from his school after he had made a bomb threat. The other teenagers would constantly pick on Trevor, making his life a living hell, but not so much after he returned to his school again. Because of his previous threat, Trevor had put a lot of fear into many of the students, which led them to kind of stay away from Trevor. The only person in the school who seems to understand Trevor is a film teacher named Val Duncan, who asks Trevor to star in a school play about school violence, something that Trevor seems to know a little about. There is also a new girl in school who seems to take a likening in Trevor, and even tries reaching out to him. But there are still things in Trevor's life that he can't escape and when another group of troubled teens, who also get picked on and call themselves "Trogs", start battling it out with the jocks they ask Trevor that he join them. Trevor's now torn from his decision between joining the Trogs or listening to his film teacher's helpful advice. The big problem for Trevor now is that the Trogs actually plan on shooting up their high school and killing all the trouble making jocks.
Watching Ben Foster's character in this movie I swear it's like you can almost feel his pain. He plays it so damn well and I never knew when the hell his character was just going to snap with fucking rage. You can tell that his character in the movie was really a good kid at heart, but sadly the people around him just made his life a living hell (which he records on his video camera by the way). The other troubled teens also play a very good part, and believe it or not, you might actually find yourself looking up to these kids at certain points. Everything that these kids go through is just so sad. Again, this movie is very depressing but you should all check it out if you can.
By the way, this movie is actually based on a school play and they show it to students in many, many high schools. There is a great message that's told through the play, as well as in the movie.
A very good look into school bullying but I felt that the ending was rather cheesy and offered a simplistic solution to a problem that is prolific in many schools. There are some great scenes and great dialog, however relies too much on cliches for the most part. Loose ends are never so neatly tied up in real life.
Great movie. I love how it stands for what's really been happening in the world. Everyone should watch this, especially adults who have kids who may be going through this. So many parents dont know what highschool life may be like. Hopefully this movie'll open their eyes. ♥
Every single American teacher and parent should be compelled to watch this. It actually makes you understand those kids who grab a gun and start shooting everything and everyone. I can't honestly say I would never do the same if I lived in that country...
Excellent stroy, acting and direction. A very nice thought provoking movie. Every teacher/lecturer, parent and their children should watch this. Strongly recommended to everyone...
I'm probably the only person not to love this film but this film just didn't offer me anything new. Honestly, I don't think anyone could explain why a person did what they did, i mean, anyone could easily blame it all on bullying but many kids get bullied but they don't go off killing their classmates. It's the same thing with suicide. So, if you're just gonna use bullying as a reason. I'd rather you not explain it at all. And, that's why I like Elephant and not this one.
One of my favourite films. The intensity and focus of obvious flaws brought out by the main charator himself makes the lead so believible and human. The message would have been less modivational if they had writen it any other way. brilliant acting by Thomas Cavangh ( the drama teacher) as well
Adpted form an excellent play, this drama brings you into the head of one would be school shooter and what pushes them to that drastic extent. Excellent acting from Foster.
This is a very good TV movie. It has a lot to say about high school kids and school shootings. All the parents should see it. Ben Foster, the guy who went psycho in Alpha Dog, gives another great performance as the troubled high-school kid. We will be seeing a lot of him in the roles of "others".
Like WOW... This is totally amazing. It deals with suicide & depression. Basically it's bullys Vs. bullied. Let's face it. Eveyone beens bullied so everyone can relate to this fim. I watched this movie last year & I don't think I ever blinked. I think it finished at like 03.00am but I didn't care. I love this film!! I can totally relate!!
This was one of the movies that we watched in class a while ago and it was the first movie i actually wanted to go to class to watch. I think this should be shown in all high schools
Bang bang. He shot me down bang bang I hit the ground bang bang my baby shot me down. Okay enough with Nancy Sinatra. The most powerful movie on teen violence. Extraordinarily moving performance delivered by Ben Foster.
