More enjoyable -- and far less campy -- than Joel Schumacher's first two live-action Batman movies.

The animated Mr. Freeze kicks ass all over the Schwarzenegger mess

The best movie version of mr. Freeze

Another great entry from the Batman animation team.

Peter Canavese, Groucho Reviews
One of the less-inspired animated Batman efforts [but] an enjoyable and generally kid-friendly adventure all the same.
-
Rob Vaux, Flipside Movie Emporium
It runs circles around Joel Schumacher's live action abominations. The masterminds behind the Batman cartoons truly understand these characters.

Clint Morris, Moviehole
I Hate to say it but after watching this, I'm almost convinced the animated team behind the Batman toons could've made a better movie than some of the later live-action 'Batman' flicks
-
Dan Jardine, Apollo Guide
Director Boyd Kirkland retains all the trademark elements that made the television series so appealing.

I've never been very interested in the Batman villain Mr. Freeze, but I want to see every Batman movie I can, so I saw this one, and it's not that great. It's not freezing, it's luke warm.

This is another Great Batman cartoon and for all the same reasons the storyline is good it has lots of action in it the cartoon effects are good the voice over actors are good such as Kevin Conroy as Batman, Efrem Zimbalist Jr. as Alfred, Loren Lester as Richard "Dick" Grayson etc. The villain is good Michael ansara as Mr. Freeze. So i am sure you will not be disappointed with Batman and Mr. Freeze Subzero because it is a really good movie.
Victor Fries, aka Mr. Freeze, has found a home - the Arctic Circle, where he can live as a normal man can live in the tropics, and where his wife Nora remains in cryogenic suspension pending Victor's discovery of a cure for the illness that will take her life should she be freed too soon. However, a submarine on a scientific expedition surfaces through the ice of Fries' cave home, destroying the area - and breeching the seals on Nora Fries' cryo-chamber. In desperation, Victor dons the frigid battlesuit of Mr. Freeze to find the one doctor who can save Nora's life, but the doctor needs an organ transplant to pull off the operation. He finds a donor with the right blood type - Barbara Gordon, whose relationship with Dick Grayson is becoming more serious. When Barbara is kidnapped, Grayson and Bruce Wayne don their famous crime fighter costumes to track down Barbara and Freeze, and along the way learn the full story of Nora Fries' desperate predicament.

A great follow up to Mask of the Phantasm. The Mr. Freeze storyline was well done and compelling. While it does have some campy elements, it's a movie targeted for a younger audience. However, it is a great animated movie. The voice talent of Kevin Conroy is dead on to Batman.

Fantastic animation, as you would expect from such a groundbreaking series. This really is a Mr Freeze tale. Unlike Mask of the Phantasm, I don't feel this effort was truly justified. Phantasm expanded on origins for all major characters, it expanded on characters relationships and was highly emotional. Here we have the whole Bat Family but none are featured heavily. Freeze is still a wonderful creation but the award winning episode from Series 1 is a lot more emotional and contains more depth. SubZero is still a great watch, it's fun, dark and fantastic to look at.

In the 2nd film spinoff from Batman The Animated Series. Mr. Freeze (Michael Ansara) has taken his cryogenically frozen wife Nora to the Arctic Circle in order find a cure for her terminal illness in solitude. His world is shattered, however, when a submarine surfaces in his cave and destroys Nora's confinements. After exacting revenge on the submarine crew, Freeze heads to Gotham City to find a former colleague, Dr. Gregory Belson (George Dzundza), who informs him that Nora will die soon if she doesn't receive a transplant. The problem is that Nora has a rare blood type and finding a suitable match could take years. Freeze's solution is to find a live donor and take what he needs, a plan that Belson is bribed into carrying out. Belson's target is Barbara Gordon, AKA Batgirl (Mary Kay Bergman). When Barbara is taken while on a night on the town with Dick Grayson, AKA Robin (Loren Lester), Batman (Kevin Conroy) quickly gets involved to uncover Freeze's plot. It then becomes a race against time to find Barbara before something nasty happens to her, but Freeze also soon discovers that he may have gotten more than he bargained for.
This is a soild follow up to Mask Of The Phantasm and was released around the time of the beyond awful " Batman And Robin" All I can say is Subzero is what a Batman film should be and not the train wreck that was released in theaters. Subzero is great film for fans of Batman and the animated series. Its well worth checking out.

Now this is more like it. This is better thanthe Arnold mess by a LONG SHOT. A good story of the tragedy of Mr. Freeze along with a good voice cast. This film is a much needed improvment that Batman needs for a full length film.

There has rarely been a TV series more impactful to its source material than The Batman Animated Series of the 90's. It introduced a character, Harley Quinn, who became so popular she was added to the comics and has skyrocketed to one of the most recognizable comic villains of all-time. It also took a corny one-note villain named Mr. Freeze and made him a cold merciless and menacing character who was very easy to identify with and even pity. Mr. Freeze skyrocketed in popularity in the 90's largely due to the series and even managed to be the main antagonist of the film Batman & Robin...but let's not speak of that. This spin-off DVD film incorporates all the compelling characteristics of the character and is a very satisfying add-on to a phenomenal series.

This is a very good movie about Mr. Freeze, though not as dramatic as one would hope, this movie really characterizes Freeze. Plus, it came out shortly after that awful Batman movie with Arnold.....

A much better alternative to the ghastly Batman and Robin, this is proof that "animation" doesn't have to mean "immature". The tragic tale of Mr Freeze is supplemented with beautiful hand-drawn and computer-generated animation. The problem is when the two don't blend well-enough. Kevin Conroy is always good as Batman, and this movie shows how Batman and Robin can work as a team-not forgetting Batgirl, whom this movie highlights as well.

Mr. Freeze, a scientist whose cryogenic research saved his wife's life by keeping her in stasis tragically deforms him by making him only capable of living in subzero temperatures. His life's purpose has become a never ending search for the cure for his wife's terminal condition, taking on a life of crime to get the procedures she needs to to keep her alive. He is a walking broken heart and would go to hell and back for his wife and Michael Ansara puts so much passion into his voice acting as a profoundly wounded individual. There is a reservoir of emotion within each of his monologues and I love that no matter what there is this undeniable saving grace to him; he is a lover fighting for the life of his woman and will not stop in the pursuit of her well-being.

Would have been better without the mixing of computer animation with the classic animation. Very distracting.
