Another beautiful film from Michel Gondry. The premise is simply fantastic and Jack Black lets loose. did feel a bit saggy toward the middle and toward the end it deviates from what you might expect. But, despite these and several other monir niggles, the film suceeds greatly in both entertainment and heart.

At first, this movie really seemed to be going absolutely nowhere. Once the plot sort of kicked in though it really got going, and although it wasn't hilarious, it was very entertaining and did have a couple lol moments. The story - about community, people coming togehter, and perseverance - was a good one as well. Worth a watch.

It's nice to see an original film like this, along with good performances from Jack Black & Mos Def. Michel Gondry's directing is unique with a lot of heart.

Don't believe what the trailer says: this is a complete different movie than the average Jack Black comedy or the average Michel Gondry cardboard-extravaganza.

    Awesome.

A wonderful film about bringing a community together through the power of our much beloved medium, film! Necessity is truly the mother of invention and this movie proves it! Mos Def's performance is great as the reluctant leader and straightman while Jack Black's is eccentric, funny, weird and endearing! I really enjoyed this movie not only for it's ardent message but for it's originality. Don't expect another Jack Black romp but look forward to what I like to call a "dramedy" with spunk!!

I was hoping this was going to be better. With Jack Black and Mos Def, I was expecting something a little funnier. I thought it was a pretty unsatisfiying ending. The remakes they made were probably better than the whole movie.

This is definitely the best Gondry film that he has written and directed. I love Eternal Sunshine, but am not really a fan of his other movies. I dont believe he is a strong screenwriter at all, and the genius of Eternal is Kauffman's script. This story is weak and what is worth watching is Mos Def and JB making the movies. Some really funny stuff. Gondry should have just done those for like webisodes and they would have been huge

Mike (Mos Def) works at an aging video rental story in New Jersey run by Mr. Fletcher (Danny Glover). Despite the advent of DVD, the store only carries VHS tapes, and rents them to local customers at a fee far cheaper than the usual rental store. The store is apparently a landmark, so Mr. Fletcher does not want to give into local developers looking to turn the block into a nice piece of real estate. He leaves Mike in charge for a few days, but leaves specific instructions for him to not his friend Jerry (Jack Black) into the store. He does, and after a rather amusing accident, Jerry manages to erase all of the tapes in the store. To help cover this up, Mike and Jerry begin to film their own versions of the films.

The entire landmark dispute becomes rather boring and annoying right after it is mentioned, and the frequent mention of jazz musician Fats Waller loses the sentimental and nostalgic touch.
In few words Black and Def are excellent, but the rest of the film is just disappointing,

This movie sucked big time. One word - BORING!! Jack Black's talent is wasted here. Mos Def is just dumb monotonous. A lil' bit unrealistic. I'd just give it two stars for the storyline. It's something new. Just don't bother watching this movie. And I totally agree that it's hard to figure out exactly what genre this is - comedy?adventure?drama? I came looking for comedy, but got none...

I didn't go into Be Kind Rewind expecting the next Citizen Kane, or even inarguably Gondry's finest work, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. What I expected was a funny film that would endear, and Be Kind Rewind achieved just that.

I like Jack Black and his acting and the other lead actors acting made this movie pretty good. The premise is stupid, but it is still a feel good movie that is better than I thought it would be.

I have given this s three star rating because I dont really know what the hell his film was supposed to be. Was it a comedy? Was it a weepy? Was it a documentary love story? I just couldnt work it out. Some really funny bits and some I was just left scratching my head at....very odd.

A combination for a must-see movie with lead comedians as Black, Def...and the Glover angle is somewhat surprising.. so it's best to check it out quickly. I recommend it.

The movie was well done and is a must see for film fanatics. My only grip is the ending didn't have much resolution despite its feel goodness.

I went into this expecting to see little more than Jack Black frantically spoofing various scenes from famous movies while some ridiculous plot tries, in vein, to tie it all together. To be fair that is what I found, but I also found a movie that is not only fresh, fun and inventive; but also well-written, well-acted and ultimately heartwarming.

one of those feel good movies for movie geeks. I loved it, the skit on Ghostbusters is particularly hilarious

Nothing more than a cute, at a few points laugh out loud funny comedy. Really a throwaway film overall, but the scenes of the 2 main characters making new versions of old movies, with some friends and on a shoestring budget, were very funny.

One of the biggest drivels I have seen, BeKind Rewind is right up there with one of the worst movies I have ever seen. To be avoided at all costs, Watch Jay Leno or Jon Stewart Show if you want to get some dose of insane humor.

I was really looking forward to this but it turned out to be a complete comedy vacuum.
Absolutely everything about it annoyed me to the point where I had to turn it off. I hardly ever do that. Massively disappointed.

Finally! Even though my hopes were high, the bad reviews got me back to earth to fully enjoy this crazy ridiculour moving movie! I was not deceived. Sure, you gotta like Jack Black, he owns this film. It was incredibly naive and just plain fun to watch those guys swede old classics. If you love movies, and I mean all kinds of movies, this flick was made for you!

A dry humor film about two goofballs who really have no idea what they are doing. I liked the Ghostbusters part but beyond that the humor was not as evident. It has good acting with Jack Black leading the way with his big belly and even bigger acting skill. It's a well done movie but could have been funnier. It's rated PG-13 for some language, some sexual references and some violence.

The trailers made me expect a bunch of low-budget, sarcastic spoofs of classic movies...well it is, partly, but mostly ended up being a heartwearming "save our town" fairytale. Meh.
